I'm just curious. What was everybody's favorite lines from the BDM? I just loved the whole dialodge. It was so funny. Damn u Joss Whedon and your talent. I envy u.
Here's a few of my favs.

"Been more'n a year since I had anything twixt my nethers didn't run on batteries!"-Kaylee. That lil vixen!

"Can we start with the part where Jayne gets knocked out by a 90 pound girl? Because that's *never* getting old." and " I am a leaf on the wind. Watch how I soar."-Wash.

"You guys always bring me the best violence."-Mr Universe.

"Three mags and my swinging cod!"-Jayne. Nuff said.

"Do you know what your sin is?"
"Oh, I'm a big fan of all seven... but right now, I'm gonna have to go with wrath." and "Yes, I read a poem. Try not to faint."- Mal.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Jayne: "Let's be bad guys."

Zoe: "You really think any of us are going to make it?"

Jayne: "Well I might..." (the look on his face was priceless!)

Mal (with River cocking the hammer on a pistol pointed at him): "Or we could talk more."

The crucial, climactic, cathartic, over-the-top line of the movie is River's (naturally):

"My turn."

Absolutely heart-stopping!

"I swallowed a bug"

Not so much a line, but a tableaux with The Operative tied up watching the Miranda video and the tear trickling down his face - wonderful.

See, I've got to put some of these lines in the context of the visual medium to really show why they're favorites...

The "Everybody's dead for no reason" line: anyone else notice that the shot ended dead-center on Wash?

And the excellent and simple "My turn" line: it was completely bolstered by all those lights coming back on and to full power!

I know I have lots more favorites, but it's all of 5am and they're not coming to me. Tho, Kaylee does have the two best lines of the movie with the "batteries" comment and the "hell with this, I'm gonna live" statement! :D I love her!

"Dear Buddha I want a pony and a rocket." - Mal

I don't know the quote ut the one at the end when Mal says to River
"you proably already know what I'm going to say."
"Yeah but I like to hear you say it." and he makes that speech. If anyone happens to know what that is, can you post it. Lie everyone else I like "I am leaf on the wind watch how I soar"

Mr. Universe: "Mal? He killed me, Mal. Killed me with a sword. How weird is that?"

Mal: Zoë, the ship is yours. Now, if I'm not back in an hour, I want you to take this ship, take off... and you come and you rescue me!
Zoë: What? And risk my new ship?

Mal: [greeting the twins] Fanty. Mingo.
Fanty: I'm Mingo, he's Fanty.
Mal: No, you're Fanty, he's Mingo.
Mingo: How do you always know who we are?
Mal: Fanty's prettier.

Jayne: Hell, I'll kill a man in a fair fight or if I think he's gonna start a fair fight or if he bothers me or if there's a woman or if I'm gettin paid, mostly only when I'm gettin paid.

The full quote: "She's damaging my calm. But she's right."

Slight difference, but key: Jayne may have an I.Q. measured in the low negatives, but he's good at quick tactical battlefield analysis. He recognized the truth in River's rantings before anyone else.

And was anyone else as proud of the lug as I was when he spoke for everyone:

"Can't stop the signal"

Come on, nobody mentioned this? I mean, it's short, sweet, and it cuts to the point about the entire theme of the movie... What I always loved about Firefly is that it goes back to the best use of science fiction, in exploring things that are personally relevant to people today, though in another setting (same reason I'm a Bradbury fan). "Can't stop the signal" just cuts to the point about the inevitable free flow of information, and ends up being a big reason why Mal gets so determined towards the end. The signal lets him strike a blow at the Alliance in line with his beliefs better than he ever could have during the war.

Oh, and of course, the "twixt my nethers" line. But it just doesn't work so well unless you've known Kaylee through the series... then you see what's gotten her all upset. It's not so much sex she wants, as it is Simon in particular. KF

~Kaiser Farooque

ZOE: Preacher, don’t the Bible have some pretty specific things to say about killing?
BOOK: Quite specific. It is, however, somewhat fuzzier on the subject of kneecaps...

I can't believe nobody's mentioned this line:
The Operative; I'm not threatening you; I'm unarmed.
Mal: Good. (pulls out his gun and shoots the Operative)
The Operative (getting up and attacking Mal): I am of course wearing body armor. I'm not stupid.

The Operative is probably the coolest villain character to step out of Joss' imagination ever, at least IMO.

Here's another great exchange between the Operative and Mal:

The Operative: It's worse than you know.
Mal: It usually is.

I also loved the Operative's line 'Where are you hiding, little girl?', mainly for the way he says it.

Take my love
Take my land
Take me where I cannot stand
I don't care
I'm still free
You can't take the sky from me
Take me out to the black
Tell 'em I ain't comin' back
Burn the land and boil the sea
You can't take the sky from me
There's no place I can be
Since I've found Serenity
But you can't take the sky from me

Yes, I've read a poem. Try not to faint.

Mal: You do that, best make peace with your dear and fluffy lord.

Mal: Leg's good, it'll bleed plenty and we avoid any necessary organs...
Guard: I was thinking more of a graze...
Mal: Well you don't want it to look like you just gave up...
Guard: No, I get that...

Simon: If I speak the words, "Eta–

How about poor Wash, alone on the bridge after the big barnswallow maneuver ...

"Is everyone OK down there? ......
Hello??"

That got a huge laugh at every showing I've seen. :)

And the operative: "Target the reavers. Target the reavers! SOMEBODY SHOOT SOMETHING!!!!" ROFL!

I also just loved the Mal-Inara interaction in this film ... that great scene where he tells her, "But you fog things up! You always do! You turn me around .... I wish to hell you were someplace else." And she says so sadly, after he stalks away, "I was!"

Book had the best death scene lines ever ...

Mal: "You did the right thing."
Book: "Coming from you, that means almost nothing."

Can somebody post those bits, please?

True, but it was great Mal and Inara banter regardless. "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" probably isn't as well known to the masses as "She Walks in Beauty."

Or maybe it's just me - I haven't read a lot of poetry either, so when I do, it's an event.

yeah, it's me.

Simon: "Am I talking to Miranda now?"
River: NO words, just her patented "you're such a boob" look. Classic brother sister interaction. One of many reasons why I love this 'verse.

Sliding the drink, I loved that moment. It gets lost among so many other moments but I remember that standing out all three times I've seen it.

That should have been there, not just the music at the end of the credits, we should have heard it sung.

As a result of it's absence I was forced (on moral grounds) to sing it yesterday with someone I didn’t know who saw me at the movie on Friday. Amazing how it brings people together.
