If I go during the week, does it count in the weekend box office total?

It's Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada and my weekend is booking up pretty fast. So I might go see the movie Thursday instead. BUT before I do this I want to know if it will help the second-weekend box office since it is important in maintaining the buzz! I can maybe sneak in a Saturday matinee if I have to (have to - what am I talking about - I can't wait to go again!).

So, if I go on a Thursday, is that included in the totals they use to calculate box office rankings?

In America, the answer is no, but I don't know about Canada. I assume its the same way. Three things to think about though...

One, At this point the overall take is going to be more important than the weekend take. How much it made overall will be an important factor in any possible sequel. In that case it doesn't matter which day you go.

Two, your 1 paid admission (or two if you bring a guest) really isn't going to affect the weekend box office estimates either way anyways.

Three, if you are that concerned about your couple of dollars affecting the take, why go to a matinee? Pay the full price and give more money to the take.

Shoot me if I ever say I "adore" a television show, for being such a wuss!

In my city, it's one price all the time. No cheap matinees, no cheap Tuesdays... but the ticket prices did come down from $15 at least. So the movie gets the same amount no matter when I go. Actually, I suppose no matter when I go, my ticket probably won't count in the box office rankings anyways since I'm in Canada.

They'll most likely be looking at changes (increases/dropoffs) from weekend to weekend... I'd say go on the weekend if you can fit it in.

And every little bit counts. Your ticket counts just as much as everyone else's ticket, so go.
Go twice!

BTW, don't forget to donate to Haken's website here... He's worked hard on it and now really needs new equipment to keep it going the way that it has.

If you have the option, go on the weekend because that's what is tracked most closely. Too precipitous a dropoff in the second weekend and in general movies are allowed to just go about their merry way down.
