I'd like to know what you guys think the potential fanbase is going to be like in a year...still as big? Gone into hiding? I ask this as a business-related question. My husband and I have an idea for something to sell at various Cons, but it's going to take a bit of an investment on our part. I'd like to continue with our idea, so I'm looking for feedback. Would the lines for cast Q&A's still number 4+ hours at DragonCon next year? Will Shindigs still be going on around the country?

Any and all opinions are welcome. Thank you in advance!

I imagine the fandom will disband and fade into obscurity, keeping quietly to ourselves, just like we did when the series was cancelled.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

What Hell's Kitten said.

We aren't going anywhere, regardless of what happens w/ the BDM & whether we get a sequel or not. Sure things might slow a tad, and some people may not post as much, but we are here for the duration.

Plenty of speculation & discussion to be had about the BDM, the DVD for the film & what extras it might contain, and the movie in relation to the series. Lots to keep us going for awhile.

I know I'll still be here. If any of the BDHs show up at DragonCon, I'll wait for 4 hours to see them. I'll still be just a rabid as ever, no matter what happens.

Amen. Any of the BDHs return for D*C '06 and you can look for me to start the queue 4 hours before the panels again. Looking forward to seeing Adam and Jewel again,(no, I don't know if they're going yet, just they've made 2 for 2 and seem to enjoy it.) and whoever they can drag with them this time. Haven't met Alan, Gina, Summer, or Sean or Joss yet. Let the Shindiggery ensue.

EMBERS

that's the thing...we didn't disappear when 'Firefly' was cancelled...and it was a good long while before the DVDs came out (a full year)
and an even longer wait for the movie...
I remember how we all thought it was going to kill us when the movie was prosponed from the April release to the October date!

No, we aren't going anywhere...
we have the movie DVD coming out in a few months
and there will be more comic books to enjoy

and I'm definitely expecting that sooner or later the BDS (Big Damn Sequel) WILL be announced,
which of course means that people will be tearing their hair out worried about who'll be in it,
and then people will be trying to be hired as extras...
and reports will trickle in from the set
and there will be a new 'official' board board....

LOL

frankly? I would go ahead with what ever you were thinking of doing, there will be conventions,
and people buying stuff online,
for many years to come

Ya, me too.

Question is, you might want to tell us what it is you're going to be investing in here. I mean, even if we're all still here for ya, if we know what it is you're providin', then some feedback might help you there too. You know, like if you plan on sellin' baby-sized hands-of-blue type gloves, well, I ain't buyin'. On the other hand, if you're handin' out Serenity breakfast cereal, I want some!

Of course if secrecy is important for product development... nevermind.

No, it's not secret. We own a small leatherworking company, mostly RenFaire armor and such. At DragonCon, we'd noticed that lots of people had those mass-produced brown lanyards with Browncoats on them. Well, we got to thinking....wouldn't it be cool to have lanyards made out of leather, with some such hammered into it (Browncoats Forever, whatever), then stained a nice brown color. Something handmade, that looks western-y, to hold Con passes, or pins or whatever. So that's our idea. Just came to mind as the person with the lanyards at D*C ran out of 'em pretty darn quick.

Oh, and I had at one time made some magnets for the RPer's in the Firefly Universe thread, that said Firefly and were hand tooled & stained. They seemed to like them. I can post a picture, if anyone's interested.

When something has such an impact on my life it never goes away. Sure I might not post as much or frequent this site a lot, but my love for Firefly and all things Joss will remain
