Look at this beautiful new thread! I think I shall christen it with this here 45 second poem:

Shine, shine, shine
This new thread does, like acid and alkaline
I hope to God that for my sake and mine,
I will make it down to London on time,
So I can finally stop finding things that rhyme,
And just sit down with Team Random and a few bottles of wine!

I discovered something great at the weekend! No not the BDM, well yes the BDM but something equally great! You can buy transfer paper that you print out on the computer and make T-shirts with it! How come I didn't know about this before. I could have had days and days of fun. So I've made my Mum and I matching t-shirts for us to wear to the Con. Yay!

So I'm thinking of driving to Bluewater on Sat. to see Serenity again. I've only seen it once so far and I feel like I missed loads of the little things. If anyone feels like they may want to come along too let me know.

I have also come to the conclusion that my friends are rubbish! Well, with reguards to what some might call an obsession but I like to call an important hobby they are. No-one will go to see the film with me. Of course it's not helped by the fact that the nearest cinema I can find is Bluewater. Anyone know any nearer cinemas to Canterbury than that?

I can't wait for the convention, now I've seen the film I'm even more excited! thats next on my list of things to get excited about! Work seems to be getting in the way of excitment at the moment! Damn it!

t-shirt transfers are uber - I made a t-shirt of my sig (thanks Rel) which I wear fairly frequently.

the convention is soooooo soon.

I have my costumes all ready but I am worried about my hair for the bollywood night - traumas! I'm not a very girly, girl and have no idea how to do anything which doesn't involved bunches or ponytails. I don't think bollywood starlets wear bunches though. gorram it! I knew I liked school disco nights for a reason!

PS Hi to new Americano guy, I hope the dudes and dudettes can help you out!

Bump.

I'm way to tired to do anything but bump.

What's this about a Con? Soon?

And someone please tell me it's in walking distance.

Of New York that is.

Like maybe Buffalo

Or Albany.

Or even Akron.

Just not in Bora Bora.

Or Kuala Lampur

Or Mars.

I'm going to kill them all. That oughtta distract 'em.

Come though, it will be fun to meet more people from across the pond!

You have great sig fu, Em!

I might look for some of these printable transfer things. Where should I go looking? Which is a good make? What sort of printers do they work on? How, indeed, do they actually work?

I've had an idea for an approprite T-shirt, y'see... which I'll keep to myself for that (hopefully) unique-ness factor.

I'm thinking I might take my too-small 'Fighting Elves' T-shirt to the con and sell it cheaply to someone there. Anyone after one of these in SMALL? They sent me a small instead of a medium, see.

I'm not going to even try for the Bollywood theme my own self. Mostly because I have no idea what to go for.... but also because I really think I've spent too much already!

I got mine from PC World when I was there looking for a router. I think they cost me about £8 for ten A4 sheets. They work on all inkjet printers. You just put them in the printer like normal paper, print (in mirror image, Casualty mistake number one!) and then iron them on to whatever item of clothing you wish. Making sure you actually read the instructions, (Casualty mistake number two!) And there you have it, a shiny new T-shirt!

Sorry CrazyIvan, but I actually have NO idea when the next US con is. I am a bad american!
Maybe someone else can help, but this is really the wrong thread for that sort of info. Only a couple Americans post here. If I find out any info, though, I'll let you know.

Oh, you know who a good person to ask is? Tracy. That girl knows everything. She goes to all that stuff. She recently posted in the BSR, so could dig her up and PM her.

Hope that helps.

I'm worried the US postal service will decide to play rugby with it or the British postal service will soak the box in puddles.

My brother's seen Serenity 7 times now.

He makes me look bad, since I've only seen it 4. But I've bought a total of 6 tickets for those 4 showings.

And I'm going again on Saturday. And I'm driving an hour and a half to do so.

Because I want my sequel, dammit.

Hmmm, that's a good point. I've seen it four times, but the first was free (press screening) and the last time I bought three tickets, one for me and one for each of the people going with me.

So I'm responsible for five ticks against the UK box office total... and soon to be six, when I go again on Saturday.

I know people who actually are not going to see it again this weekend... strange folks. Apparently there are other things to watch now... like Wallace And Gromit *vomits* Bah, I'd rather see Serenity again... handy that

I actually want to see Wallace & Grommit (I love them, they're very funny. I have W&G socks that a friend from Liverpool gave me years ago.) And I wouldn't mind seeing The Corpse Bride and Elizabethtown, but they are all just going to have to wait until 1) Serenity's out of the theater or 2) they come out on DVD because as long as it's in the theaters, I'm going to keep seeing it.

Because I want my sequel, gorramit!

I'm going to start sounding like a broken record. But is this not what we've worked so hard for? This isn't the end. We don't just get to see it once and then give up. We have to keep Serenity in the air.

So, how's everybody's Thursdays going (or Fridays, if you're NS.)

wallace And Grommit I can easily live without. Okay, funny, but I'm not sure I could stand to go to a cinema to see it.

The Corpse Bride doesn't interest me at all.

The trailer for Elizabethtown makes me want to vomit. I can't believe they were showing it with Serenity. I dread to think what effect actually seeing the movie would have on me.

Hmmm, Serenity it is then. Oh, and Nightwatch, at some point. Next week, I think. I've got a few more evenings spare.

and its not that I don't wanna see serenity anymore.. but i think if i sit through another showing it might ruin it for me, and i wanna be able to watch the DVD a time or two. Its when you have two ATI graphics cards in your computer, so you have twice the graphical power. Right now you can only do it with x800 or x850s, but i'm hopeing they will make it possible with their new card the x1800... and right now there 500 bucks a card.. so i gotta save.

Hey y'all!

I hear ya Serenity! Give us a sequel!!

I've seen it 9 times now, 10 tommorrow, and I've never gone alone.

Also, when I saw it in Leicester Sq with some browncoats, we got 16 people in the queue to change their minds and see Serenity instead!

Just worked it out, I'm responsible for 42 ticket sales of Serenity! And tommorrow shall be 43!

You can't stop the signal.

Speaking of driving, I drove to the cinema tonight! Twas fun! But I lost my front L plate.

Not unlike the primary buffer panel ripping on the nose of Serenity and flying past the window.

Really, I hadn't heard they had started doing that with ATI, or that compatible motherboards had come out...
I knew you could do it with NVidia's... Personally I'm looking to build a dual-core AMD Athlon with a next gen card (currently NVidia are the only one's with 'em).
So many parts, so little cash...

thats affirmitive sir, they have come out.. at a few places (Newegg is what i use) and I think they've only released the x850 mastercard, and I havn't found the mobo.. but i still gotta save, lol like you said... soo little cash...

i'm expecting 500-700 for the x1800 mastercard and about 100-150 for the mobo... and as for next gen cards.. looku the x1800 (500Mhz core speed, 1000Mhz if you know wat that means) 12 pipelines, in a month there should be another version with 24 pipeline.. which of course is better.

Well, those stores have been open for several months now so who knows why CafePress have only just decided the images are dodgy. So are they having a mass clamp-down? Who knows, but might be best to order now!

This is what confused me the most - we show dogs & I've got a couple of stores featuring my drawings or manipulations of photos of our dogs. For some strange reason they've also decided that one of those images is also a copyright violation. So I've queried that.

CALLMESERENITY

That is weird. They're your pictures of your dogs. But there is a company out there that has these weird pictures of dogs and cats. I've seen greeting cards witht them on it, and a friend has a calendar. Maybe they thought your pics were those? Who knows.

PR-you've seen it 10 times!! I'm so proud of you. Summer would be so proud if she knew. I've only seen it 4, but I'll see it again tomorrow. If I didn't have to drive an hour to see it who knows how many times I'd have gone by now.

And you lost the license plate off your car? So strange.

I definitely feel like my car is my spaceship. Especially since it's always making weird noises or having problems. It is not like a firefly in that it will NOT be with me forever. Poor thing. And I do so love my car.

I also really love Anberlin right now. Anybody heard of them?

HEELLLP

I don't know what to do! :( I really want to go, I live 30-45 mins from Heathrow! BUT I'm working Friday (9-6) and Saturday till 2.

I think I can get Friday off, but not Saturday as well.... if I were to arrive at like 3 would it be a waste of a day? Would I miss too much do you think? Plus I'd be on my own :( I've never been to a con before!!

£75 is quite a bit and I don't want to miss out of I pay that and I do go..

Quick convince me!

SERENITYPUNK

you would be better missing friday, than saturday

Friday dosnt really kick off till around 6-7ish with the opening ceremony and the disco. but saturday is the day for photo session and autographs, they do have them sunday as well, but no guarantee that you will get the same shoots. or into both auto sessions.

if you can manage saturday off, either via a sickie (whats that, you feel poorly already) or otherwise, it would be better.

and as for being alone, you wont be for long

just my opinion

That's amusing that they sent you a soothing ambient CD instead of a movie soundtrack. lol!

I didn't have that problem. My CD came, I popped it immediately into my CD player (after spending 10 minutes unwrapping it) and listened to it over and over and over again. How I love it.

Lets see how much money I can't spend...
The talk of pipelines and Mhz don't confuse me, Degree in CS over here, but the other folks round here get tetchy with it, so we try to keep it to a minimum...
The thought of retribution is just too scary to contemplate...
