RENNOC

Greetings to all of us out in the black,

This may not be a spoiler the movie has been out a while but maybe someone hasnt seen it yet.

Well I'm a newbie and I cool with saying it. I caught a couple of episodes of Firefly back in 02 but I was still at the military academy so i didnt get to see much TV back then (Scifi channel is a godsend) so ive been watching it on SCIFI and i bought the DVDs so I was ready for the feature film. And was mortified when

when both Shepard and Wash got zipped
now to my question and this is probly old hat but (IM a Newbie I appologize) has any one heard if there is a sequal or new series and do ya all think they may find a way to bring them back. Wash was hilarious and there is way to much mystery with Shepard to not give a little bit about how he knows so much about military and tactics.

Thanx to all Cheers,

Rennoc

Oh yeah, Im new to forums too, what do we put in the signature box Thanx.

There is virtually no chance of a series. A spinoff is the only possibility there, and that is very very unlikely.

As for sequels, my understanding is they all are signed to be in up to 3, but no one really knows what Joss intends if anything. Rumors and such.

Actually,

I think it's pretty darn obvious both Wash and Book are dead. They have gravestones. I had held hope for one or the other of them to survive given the technology in the series, but the "funeral scene" - which is exactly how it's referred to in the closing credits - was pretty firm about Book, Wash and Mr. Universe all being very, very dead. That said, if there is a continuation or a side novel or side comic of some sort from Book's POV, it's possible Book's past will be further explored.

And no sequel of any kind is certain at this point. The movie took $40 million to make, and Universal has apparently said that the combination of theatre take and DVD sales will have to add up to about twice that before a sequel film, let alone TV series, is considered.

That said, there ARE some (apparently decently-selling) Firefly comics printed by Dark Horse, a 3-part series appropriately titled "Serenity", which is supposed to be a bridge between the end of the TV series and the beginning of the movie. You can find them all over the place on eBay if you search for "Serenity" or "Firefly", though I think the first issue is being reprinted by DH now. You might want to see if you can get your local Barnes & Noble or comics shop to order you a copy if you'd like more of the series (even if it isn't a sequel).

But, since there was a prequel comic, it makes sense that there could maybe someday be a sequel comic. Joss already does a bit of comic writing, for Fray (a futuristic Buffy sequel he created), for one of the X-Men comic series, and he also wrote all three Serenity prequel comics. He's a comics fan, and I don't doubt he'd be willing to further it that way if he had to.

I had heard at some point that he was really hoping to do two sequel movies if he could only get the budget for them, though. Just know that though nothing's certain, he wants to continue it. ;)

You know how on other forum systems, you can set it to display a little bit of something at the bottom of every post of yours? It's like that, though I think it's blank unless you add something in it for every post (not entirely sure, as I'm new myself). For instance, I'm fond of one of the movie catchphrases, "Can't Stop The Signal". You'll notice it appears under my sign-off, because I always write my name like this: -Runa27, when I'm ending a message.

Hope that helps! :)

Oh, and I agree! It's thanks to SciFi that I'm a Browncoat (Firefly/Serenity fan) myself. :)

Just to let you know, from what I've seen, BDM (Big Damn Movie)=Serenity. I only gathered this from context and the fact that somebody I know on another forum actually said Big Damn Movie instead of the acronym. I'm not sure just yet what BDH is supposed to stand for, though...

Hey, if I needed the cavalry to come over the hill, I'd sure love to see Zoe and Mal in the lead!

Look around the website and you'll find quite a few threads on these topics. A lot of rumors and speculation but I heard an interview with Jewel Stait(Kaylee) on Scifi Talk(a podcast) that cleared a lot up. They are ALL(thats 9, including Ron Glass and Alan Tudyk) signed for two more movies. As for what role are two deceased Heroes may have, thats still up to speculation, but if they make enough money, look for movies coming your way. Slim of a return of "Firefly" though as when Universal bought the rights from FOX, part of the deal was no new television series for ten years.

"Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal" - my thoughts on the Wash demise.

Then I remembered what Joss said during the commentary on the pilot episode on DVD. Mal fooling Simon into beleiving Kaylee was dead was also to let us think that he could kill anyone at any time.

Regards

At a Q/A I attended Joss said he wouldn't tell us anything about Books past because it would spoil the story for the sequel (if there is one).
Make of that what you will.

More insane ramblings by the people who brought you Beeeer Milkshakes!
Even though I might, even though I try,
