Yay Steve! He's my favorite author of all time. Working on the Dark Tower series right now.

Steve has good taste and often good recommendations. I've read and enjoyed a lot of books he's recommended over the years.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Shiny!

Wish Mr King had gotten around to this say opening weekend in hopes his thumbs up would have given some influence to some of his fans to go see the film sooner. Not to sound ungrateful or anything.

Hopefully his nod will still get some people to give "Serenity" a try.

Truly Shiny, but I'm honestly not surprised. I've been reading Stephen King for longer than I care to say, and whether you like the genre or not, he is a superb writer. His work, like Joss's, is highly character driven, and he has that same ability to put you into the shoes of a character with whom, on the surface at least, you have nothing in common. And a lot of his characters are flawed, ordinary people just trying to get by, like our BDHs. Of course, he GETs Joss Wheadon--and how could anybody not love it?

Whoops! Sorry about the misspelling. I guess "A" just comes to mind when I think about Joss!

He is also about one of *the* only authors who understand enough about the new market place of the digital media and distribution channels that he was willing to "give away" the first couple chapters of that novel -online available for downloading - to see what it would do with good fans.

I loved "The Dark Tower", I started reading it when it was pretty new, when I was still in school, and after those years of breaks, I didn't really hope that he would still complete it. But as this proves, sometimes things you almost gave up the hope on come true ;)

Anyway, nice to see that another famous guy loves our heroes.

Been avoiding Stephen King novels like the plague ... but my sister has just shown me the first two episodes of "Kingdom Hospital" and I'm kind of intrigued.

The man knows creepy. And, wow, the humour is just quirky and disturbing. I love the dogs "How should I know, I'm just a dog?" and "nice going, who's going to feed me now?".

It's a fair trade, me and my fiance watch Kingdom Hospital, my sister and her husband watch Firefly.

Kingdom Hospital, kinda makes me think Stephen King and Joss Whedon have the same kind of humour, I think they'd get along.

Well, aside for ‘nice of you to mention it Steve, it should be quite obvious to anyone who is in any renown position, without a more in depth supportive commentary, means little more than any of the multitudes of the viewing public posting their support, being aware that this Gem that may be lost amongst the tons of garbage presently being viewed by public. (anyone aware of the decline of the ‘Roman Empire’?)

But thanks for the thought, “Mr. King”

If Firefly does not somehow get picked up by a network with half a brain, then it’s just another sad example of the moronic insipidity that’s running amuck on the airwaves these days. Would also love to see some movie sequels also, but once a year or three, just doesn’t compare to the weekly fixation of the exceptional series.

I hopefully believe that Firefly will continue on some television medium, and personally pin best hopes on sci-fi, as not only are they getting a ton of feedback, bit are also, to my understanding, part of Universal (Serenity). That’s just MHO.

Stephen who?

Orson Scott Card raved about Serenity on Sept 30th and says the most flattering things that made my heart leap, because I've been watching, waiting and reading about his thoughts on an Ender's Game film.

All of King's work isn't just stuff like "The Shining." (I'm reminded of the Family Guy parody... "a lamp monster! Ooooooo!")

I'm not big on his horror stuff... not really my taste... but The Dark Tower is fan-bleeding-tastic.

Maybe this isn't a reflection on Stephen King, but rather a reflection on you.

Late last night and the night before,

I wanna go out, don't know if I can,
'Cause I'm so afraid of the Reaver man.

Thank you for that.
