Care Packages to Troops

A month ago, the Whedonverse Multimedia Project urged fans
to "Support the Troops" by sending them care packages containing
Firefly the complete series on DVD along with other requested items
as listed on AnySoldier.com. Today, all the items for the care
packages have been put together and they are ready to be shipped.

The Project will select three contacts listed on AnySoldier.com to be
sent care packages. The soldiers selected will be ones who have
posted most recently on the Any Soldier site to ensure that their
mailing address information is up-to-date and who have requested dvds
as among the items they need.

In addition to the Firefly DVD, the care packages contain gatorade
mix and beef jerky - two items commonly requested by soldiers on the
site. Most importantly, they contain letters from those fans who sent
one into us for inclusion in the packages.

Total donations for the campaign: $213.12

Expenditures:
DVDs ---------- $89.67 (3 Firefly DVDs)
Gatorade Mix -- $37.55 (48 1 quart packages)
Beef Jerky ---- $60.00 (3 lbs of 12" snack sticks)
Packaging ----- $6.00 (3 boxes)
Postage ------- tba

Total: $193.22

The care packages will be sent out this weekend at which time we will
know the exact postage costs. Thanks for your support!
