Anybody have any idea how well Firefly is doing in reruns on SciFi? I read somewhere that BSG pulls in 4 million or so viewers and is considered a great big success (since cable numbers are always smaller than network numbers I guess you don't have to pull in an audience the size of Lost's to be a run away hit). Is Firefly getting good numbers, too (for a cable network anyway)?

The latest news I heard is that BSG may not be renewed for a third season, in spite of its relative success. How many people have to watch these things in order to secure their continuation??

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Where did you hear that? Got a link?

I was under the impression that BSG was doing really well.

As to Firefly #s on Sci Fi I have not heard anything about how they are doing.

Anyone?

there is no hope for good tv/movies, if BSG cannot stay on the air, what can? I don't really like it but it pulls a large audience. What do network execs do besides make mistakes.

Okay so I have NO clue if this is a reputable website, but it says that in Sept. 2005, SciFi renewed BSG for a third season: http://www.icv2.com/articles/news/7518.html
Anybody ever figure out how we could find Firefly's numbers?

In the news section of scifi's website it states that for the week of 10/3-10/9 Firefly was the #8 show on SciFi channel. Battlestar Galactica was #10. Looks like real good performance for reruns that are not in that good of a timeslot. Also how many people that own the DVDs actually watch the SciFi broadcast?

They were advertising that BSG would be back in January for Season 3.

Granted, it wouldn't be the first time that a network said a show was coming back and then changed their mind, but I've seen nothing to suggest that it's not a guarantee that BSG is back.

Strangley enough, I do. I have racks of DVD's, but still find myself watching the same movies on TV.

Back when it was announced, BSG season two was a 20 episode order. It has been broken up into blocks of ten with a mid-season cliffhanger. I know the advertising suggests season three is on the way in January, but the upcoming eps are part of the same season two order we've been watching.

When they were NOT airing reruns of SG1, SGA and BSG Firefly was generally the 4th highest rated show on Sci-Fi, often beating their movies of the week (you know the crap they play on Saturday night with killer walking fish or some shit). I can say from what I recall this is higher than what the ratings for say, Andromeda were (even though that was usually technically new episodes).

Previous to them going into reruns I remember seeing Firefly carry numbers ranging from 1.1 to 1.8 million viewers. I think Sci-Fi did a damn fine job of advertising the show and it paid off for them.

I am sure new Sci-Fi funded Firefly episodes would shoot up in the ratings, possibly even beating Stargate Atlantis, which is usualy #3.

I'm still crossing my fingers for Sci-Fi to pick up the series or some made for TV movies from the Firefly 'verse. I think that they are our best hope.

Also remember the Sci-Fi channel is one of cables #1 channels, so when we see numbers like 3.5 million viewers that is actually really impressive on cable, on network TV that is considered failure and a flop.

I own the DVDs but I have been watching them on Sci-Fi, my only complaint? The film quality they are airing is shit.
