So, I was pondering attending that there Flanvention. It's on the wrong coast, but there's some new-fangled flying contraptions that should get me there pretty quick. I've ne'er been to something of the like, though, and I had a few questions; for instance, Anyways, eh, is there food at these conventions? I mean, for $300 bucks, there's damn well better be food. And are they, like, all day for the days that they occur? Like, when will people arrive on Friday, and when will they leave on Sunday? And, do you think it'd be cool if I slept outside on a bench? 'Cause $200 bucks, just for a bed...damn. Lastly, eh, is Sunday really worth it? Would I be missing out if I left Saturday night?

Thanks,
-Steve

I was considering this convention too. It's REAL expensive for a SciFi Con.. I'm not even sure a Con with the Original ST crew plus an appearance from John Edwards (BDIU) to talk with Scotty and Bones could command this kind of cash. This would be a "Dream Con" and a heck of a vacation. Too bad the super tickets are sold out. As far as food.. don't expect much. Most cons have contracts with vendors to sell $3 sodas and $5 hot dogs and they rain fire on anyone trying to undercut them.. one con I went to a couple was forceably removed for selling cheap sodas out of their room. As far as sleeping on the streets.. why not hook up with other fans that are going.. The most fun I've ever had at a convention was in a cramped room, not that you actually spend alot of time in the room. Sunday is usually not a great Con day.. HOWEVER.. the majority of the "Con experience" happens on Saturday night in various room parties and late night events, so you wouldn't want to cheat yourself out of that. Of course these are just general convention notes, not specific to this Con. I know that if I can swing it I'll go. That's a mighty big "if".

Hey, thanks for your response. I noticed that the weekend pass gives you no discount over the day passes - hence, I could save a goodly amount of dough by going only two of the three days. So, any suggestions? Which is preferably, generally, Friday or Sunday? When will the photo-op go down? Because I could definatly pony up 50 bucks for a photo of me and a castmember, and I wouldn't wanna miss that. Finally, can you buy tickets at the door?
Thanks,
-Steve
