Cheers all. I just found this place 'cause I've got Firefly on the brain.

I had never seen any of the episodes, but a glowing review of Serenity by Orson Scott Card compelled me to suspend my doubts. I was not disappointed, and the subtle humor was even more endearing with the second screening.

Now, I have bought the series on DVD and plowed through three out of four discs so far. I am watching it ravenously, and wholly caught up in the interplay of all these great characters.

I only regret not knowing all the episodes backward and forward prior to seeing the movie. Its revelations would have had even more impact had I known the background better.

All you Firefly people were really on to something. It's amazing how people are so intense about their disdain for the supporters of the show, since it was cancelled and everything. Just because networks drop shows doesn't invalidate their merits, and a show like Everybody Loves Raymond can run forever and ever because it's the same watered down jokes Home Improvement proved to be successful with the mentally reclined masses.

End of rant.

Welcome, welcome! Always glad to have a new browncoat on board! I knew that great OSC review would draw a little attention.

If you'd like to see more of the 'verse, be sure to recommend Serenity to all your friends and then buy the DVD when it comes out December 20. We can get sequels if the Big Damn Movie does well, but we're kinda shaky financially at the moment.

Whatever happens, please do stick around. We'd love to have you join the discussion. And I hope you enjoy the rest of the series; the last episode, "Objects in Space," is my personal favorite. Be sure to check out the commentaries and special features when you're done, too!

Nice to have you with us, steved. Judging by many recent posts here, there are a lot of new fans who followed your path into the 'verse. And you still have three of the best episodes to watch! Shiny!

That review by OSC was really a great one. I just bought "Ender's Game" (haven't started it yet) mostly because of his kind words about Serenity.

Ain't about you, Jayne. It's about what they need.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Welcome to the site Steved! Glad to have you aboard. Always a pleasure to welcome a new fan.

Glad to see Mr Card's review is convincing some people to give Firefly & Serenity a chance.

I have never understood why people feel inclined to show disdain for a show simply because a network cancelled it. Fox has a long history of cancelling great shows simply because they didn't rake in ratings like such garbage as "Joe Millionaire". One would think that people would gladly check out shows that Fox cancel, because if Fox is cancelling them they have to be good.

Firefly sells itself. If someone is open minded enough to watch a couple of episodes 90% of the time they will end up fans.

Thanks for sharing how you found the movie & the show Steved. Be sure to share them both with all your friends & family. The more the merrier, right?
