forgive me= I am relatively new..

but WHERE are these session tapes from??? I do not mean the web site- got that, viewed them...
but where did they ORIGINALLY come from?

verrrrrrrrrrry interesting!

also that symbol at the beginning of the "tapes" looks like the tatoo on Mal in Trash...

hmmmm???

Short version: Uni wanted to do some online viral promotions, so Joss wrote up a few short films to leak onto the internet. They filmed them in one afternoon, with Joss directing (as well as acting opposite Summer).

The symbol at the beginning of the tapes is the new Alliance crest. It appears several times in the film, most notably glowing purple on the side of the Operative's flagship.

Yeah, but I dont think its the thing tatooed on Malcoms leg. I think thats the independants symbol.

I understood (from an interview w/Nathan Fillion)
that the tatoo on Mal's leg is just what Nathan happens to have tatooed on his own leg.
That is to say, they didn't cover it up.
And he won't say what it is...
but it pre-dates Firefly/Serenity so it is NOT the Alliance symbol.

I'm glad people are watching the R. Tam sessions, because I think they are amazing.
It is so cool that Joss gave us this backstory
(particularly amazing when we know they were filmed after the movie, and LONG after the TV show)
but we get a chance to see poor River before she was meddled with.
