HPHINIZY

Based on word of mouth I decided to go see Serenity a few weeks back... Since I have bought the Firefly box set and conveted my wife into a browncoat. She seems to like more than I do and I got her to go see the movie today. I enjoy the odd sci-fi flick everynow and then... I tolerated Enterprise... I must say, Firefly is by far and away one of the finest shows I have experienced in a long time, regardless of jenre.

Everytime I think I have reached the apex of my love for the show it betters itself. There will be a level of hell carved out for the execs that scrapped this series .

To date I have converted my wife, got some friends from work and some in Sweden to go see the movie. Sorry I have been late to the show, had I known I was missing something this good I would made my mark early and often.

Regards

Welcome Fellow Firefly Fan!!!!!

I'm still sort of new also, but I loved the movie, and I adore the series; its got a little something for everyone in it.

It really is good isnt it? Its very addictive, I watch the DVDs everyday before and after I go to work. I can't seem to get enough of it!!

You are right about those executives...what the hell were they thinking????

The people in this forum are rabid about the Firefly 'verse, thats why I'm here, and I suspect thats why you are here, so welcome aboard!

Read all thats available, and start posting what you think about it all.

See ya!

Now, now, Calhoun, that sounds a bit too aggressive--can’t fault the new folk for FOX’s failings. We want new browncoats to feel welcome, not harassed. Being open to newcomers is what makes our fandom so great.

And as for it being “all over,” I think you’re speaking too soon. We need to see how DVD sales of Serenity go (on shelves Dec 20) before we’ll get a more definite picture about sequels. I’m optimistic, as long as everyone does their part to help sales. And even if there are no more sequels, Joss has expressed an interest in telling the stories via comic books. He wants more as much as we do, and I have faith in his ability to get it to us somehow.

Anyway, welcome to the board, Hphinizy. Always glad to have new browncoats join the fold. I’m glad you’re doing your part in spreading the word--the world needs to know how great the show and the Big Damn Movie are. And please stick and discuss the ‘verse with us. We’re glad to have you.

A bit too aggressive? Harrassing? I dont know how you got there. I believe my statement to be valid. If only people watched Firefly in the beginning.. Is it possible you're being a little too sensitive?

Could be, could be. It's just that the first time read it, it had a very bitter vibe to it. "Would have ben nice if all you newbies discovered Firefly 3 years ago." When I read this the first time... and even now, actually, it kinda sounded like you were *blaming* the new folks for "not being there when it counted" or something. As if it was their fault for not tuning in rather than FOX's for underadvertising the show and making it damn hard to find.

Since that doesn't appear to be what you meant, I reckon it's just another case of the internet being a barrier to communication rather than facilitating it. What say we forget about it, then, since this thread is supposed to be a hello Hphinizy more than anything else.

OLDHAG

I was at work when the show was on on Friday Nights. I had no time to watch the show. I'm sure there were lots of other people out there with the same kinda story or were out living it up on the town. Putting a show on Friday night is a death sentence for any show unless its on CBS or NBC. All the old folks stay home and watch the shows that come on in the evenings on those two networks.

But anyways, I haven't given up hope on Firefly yet either, that's why i'm here, and the good conversation.Conversation is always good with people that have the same interest as you.

BROWNCOAT1

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Welcome to the site & the fandom Hphinizy! Glad to have you aboard!

Keep spreading the word my friend. The more the merrier & honestly we can use all the fans we can muster. The better the movie does in theatres & the better the DVD sells when it hits stores on 12/20, the better our odds of another movie.

Keep flyin'!

CARLA

Hey! Welcome!

I'm new to the website, just joined yesterday, and I've only been a fan for about two months now. A friend hooked me on the episodes, and then I HAD to see the movie. ...Actually, I had to see the movie before I even fell in love with the show, due to my everlasting love of Jewel Staite.

It's too bad I didn't get hooked back when it was first on TV, but my Friday nights already were spoken for.
