That sounds really shady, enough so that I wouldn't put any stock in it. Besides, the article has a point that it will still be a few years before he even has time to work on the sequel.

Ten years? Ok, I think that article is just trying to be funny: 'Joss Whedon is so busy, it'll take ten years!' I mean, the youngest cast members are 24 and 25 now, in ten years they'd be 34 and 35. For some reason, I can't see Summer at 35 still wanting to play a 17 year old.

I'm sure he's just taking into account that Jupiter is going to collapse into a smallish black hole in another two years and the resulting gravitational forces will have a slight "slow-time" effect which will, if observed from a location outside of the gravitational disturbance, make the time span between 2005 and 2010 seem like 10 years, not 5. I mean, the only other possibility would be the failure of the educational system, and that would mean "No child left behind" dosen't work.. and I'm just not ready to say that yet.

This 28 year old has no problems waiting ten years for a Serenity sequel.

If the show hit the magic number required for it to have a sequal made, It will be made FAST. Firefly/Serenity has a unique chemistry that requires the present cast members to utilize. Time is a factor...

I agree.... they will make another one pretty fast if it gets greenlighted, which I think personally it will.

Joss can call on Tim Minear to help with directing if he is too busy and he is really good at multitasking apparently as he's done three shows at once.

I think this is doable. He and the cast LOVE this 'verse. If it gets money, it will get done.

He's already said he has ideas for the sequels.
He knows what he's doing.

I'm a new member and new to Firefly, let me start by saying great show, amazing movie. First off, Whedon shouldnt be wasting his time with Wonderwoman. Lets face it, this character is too campy and just wont translate to the screen, an invisible plane? the lasso of truth? cmon. Firefly is one of the best character, and dialogue driven shows ive seen in a while. Am I the only one who thinks that Sci-Fi should be begging Whedon to re-start the series on the network that is currently running the syndication. There is a solid fan base there and this is a cult/grassroots show. The best way to approach further story lines is either through Sci-Fi channel or straight to DVD since thats where the greatest success has been found. Either way lets all hope that Joss is inspired to write more and maybe hears our words of wisdom

I don't know how to do the quote thingy, so...
pardon my sad attempt...

Nope, you are not the only one. It's where I discovered Firefly and fell in love with it. I think it stands to reach an audience and do well for SciFi.

Looks like a proper quote to me, and I work in Public Relations so take that as you will. I think anyone who frequents this site agrees that Firefly needs to continue. The ending of Serenity simply begs for another story, im sure i dont need to tell anyone here why. Point being if you want to let Joss Whedon know that his labor of love is ours as well then keep reading. Below you will find the contact information for Joss Whedon's agency and personal agents. The Internet is a powerfull tool but nothing speaks like a physical letter or a phone call. If we all take efforts to inform the people who make the decisions what a gem they're sitting on then maybe something will happen.....Cant stop the signal...

Thank you for the assurance re: quote style.

Thanks as well for the address to write, I will do so this evenin'.

If there is any place else... like Universal, etc. that you know the addresses for please post em up and I'll write them too. I suppose I should add SciFi to that list.
Those addresses may be posted somewhere else on the site, but I'm too new to know where to go.

Keep your eyes peeled to this thread and try to spead the word. Starting Monday i'll begin posting all the pertinent contact information I can find so we can get the word out. I'll look into Universal and Sci-Fi. If anyone else has any good suggestions of corporations who should hear our peace then post away. Once i get a nice list going I will create my own thread so that its easier to find on the site.

Yes, oh yes, something concrete to do now that the movie has left my area! I'm still sharing DVD's and buying things, but I think this can do some good too, if we ALL do it.

I'll keep my eyes peeled and I will write them all.

Thanks for doing this for us!

Um, I think it's the 'post holer' quote - not a bad play on the phrase, IMHO :)

But as for the delay for a sequel, it hit me the other day we all made it THREE YEARS before the movie after the first show airdate. If we can wait three years for Serenity, we can wait three more for Serenity Two by Two. Five is a bit steep, though...

And look how that went in 66/67! Extended series to films to spinoffs...of course, let's overlook Paramount's greed and overmilking for now, shall we?

(Took them 30 odd years anyway. Shame the 40th and 50th anniversaries might be more memorial than celebration with that fandom...I USED to be part of it until ST:Nemesis killed my passion for it!)

we've had the debate of the meaning of the word 'camp' at Whedonesque...
I know Joss Whedon HATES camp and resented that his original script for the movie 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' was turned into campy crap...
I think servo66 was thinking that that is what Joss would do w/Wonder Woman...
but no, he wants to make her a serious icon.
He wants to give the character a backstory (he is doing an origin movie) that is worthy of a goddess...
Have you read Joss' 'Astonishing X-men' comics?
That will show you what I mean,
nothing 'campy' about it... he treats the characters with all seriousness
(along with his fresh brand of humorous dialog)

He wouldn't take on 'Wonder Woman' if he didn't think it could be great...
You just gotta have faith in Joss
(he has never let me down before)

Thanks for thinking of me. I certainly agree that if anyone could do it as right as it could be done it would be joss. For whatever reason he has an a wonderfull ability to write from a female perspective. Stil, i just think with the wealth of spin-offs, prequels, sequels and other non original material it would be much better to see this great original series put back into work. Here are some more contacts, I will post them on other threads as well, along with on the browncoats site. Cant stop the signal......

SUMMERRIVERS

Honestly, I hope they kinda don't make a movie. I REALLY hope Joss will try another season, because I kinda like the slow progression thing. And see this?:
Worldwide Top Ten

-- Firefly - TV
-- Serenity - movie
-- Farscape - TV
-- Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy - book
-- Babylon 5 - TV
-- Battlestar Galactica - TV
-- Dune - book
-- Enders Game - book
-- Empire Strikes Back - movie
-- Dr. Who - TV

FIREFLY is first. NOT serenity.

Catch my drift?

Wow...responses. That's, um, awesome. Well, Joss has written that another comic book series will be released from Dark Horse. I didn't get the first ones, and won't get the second ones either. Basically, that's cas I'm waiting for them to be combined into a graphic novel. I used to be a big comic collector and now have all these boxes taking up space. Might even have one or two that are worth something...maybe.

Also, just to let you know, I've got an idea working that may or may not happen. I'll let you know if it does.
