Great big piles of trompling and jumping fun.

Maple leaves in all the colors of the rainbow.

Maple syrup on toast.

It's that time of year, Randomites!

Maple soda? I think I want to get me some of that! Trouble is it might involve me having to buy a plane ticket!

There's a fun little general store in Bar Harbor that sells the Vermont maple sodas and maple water and other fun, all natural sodas. They are quite tasty. And they have a little deli area, too. I love that store.

I usually go to Maine every summer, but I didn't get to go this year. I miss it. "(

And Safe-it is a very good song. Good job. Wish I knew the original so I could compare, but alas, I do not.

OK all this talk of maple syrup has made me very hungry. I'm off to cook my dinner. It doesn't involve maple syrup unfortunately but it might have in store some Smarties and or Ben and Jerry's! I thought no one had mentioned chocolate in a while.

Laters guys! x

We went camping in Maine a few years back. It was in Acadia Park, Mt Desert to be precise. There's a nifty little coffee shop in Bar Harbor called Two Cats, we got coffee mugs and t-shirts there. We especially liked the theme because we have two cats ourselves.

Sometimes cynical's just another word for realistic.

When I'm in the lab instead of my office I don't have time to come here either. Then I check in from home and find myself hopelessly behind all the posts. So far as that goes I can totally relate, citizen.

Yay Rel! Now, get some REST!!

Oh-frabjous news of mine own.

A couple of weeks ago a Japanese woman and her daughter stopped by here looking for materials on Martin Luther for a paper the daughter was doing for school. A couple of us helped them out and we found enough materials for the girl to use for her paper. It was a bit of a challenge, since English was their 2nd language and none of us spoke any Japanese.

And then they showed up this afternoon (which was wierd because I'd just been thinking about them) to return all the materials they borrowed and they brought a thank you gift-this absolutely adorable wooden doll. It has a little sign that's supposed to be displayed with it, but I have no idea what it says because they couldn't think of how to translate it into english.

The best gifts are the ones you aren't expecting.

That is a good idea, Spinny.

There's also a brochure thingy in the box, which I can't read.

It always drives me crazy when I can't read another language. It makes me want to stop everything I'm doing and grab a dictionary and figure it out. And that's why I'm majoring in linguistics.

I should take a picture of it anyway, it's so pretty.

I will take pictures, but I have one of those old fashioned cameras that use film, so it's going to be a bit before I get it developed.

I did ask for a digital camera for Christmas. And I've been VERY good this year (well, except for yesterday) so here's hoping!

Most of my early (enlisted) military time was spent as a translator for intelligence units. I got to study Korean, German and a bit of Russian at the Defense Language Institude in Monterey, CA, and I lived in Korea and Germany. Fascinating times, but not where I felt my future lay.

Good luck getting a digicam, I know how useful they can be. Time for me to head home now; cheers!

I've had a bit of a rest - TV and coffee, good times - so now I might try and grab a few vid clips.

I'm going to try and do my Big Video Idea video this weekend, so I can get it to Serenity².

Carol already suggested I take my other two along on a CD to give to Sean (Harry) because he likes those kind of things... and I remember some music vids got shown between Q&A sessions last time.

Maybe I can get this one done to take along too. My only problem is, will it be the victim of too much hype and not be as good as it almost sounds like it could be?

Hey N0S another randomite who might actually be up and about!

It's so weird to pretty much only be here when everyone else is sleepytime. I just looked at my sunlit earth widget for a mental tucking in and wishing all you wonderfully assorted flubound, proper tea-sloshed, frozen north and east coast randomites sleep with no bedbugs.

I missed a whole entire thread! Dangit! And there was the channelling of Bob Marley, and copiers in time out and much pantomime silliness!

But I'm likin' this new thread of crispy colored leaves to scuff and dive into very much. Fallen leaves can also be pretty wonderful when they aren't crispy anymore. They make gorgeous patterns on the cement after they've been doused with rain. It's been raining here in Portland quite a lot this week, and the sidewalks are all patterned with leaf prints. One of my favorite times of year. I already meant to mention it, and when I get here, you've already been talking about leaves.

Tomorrow I work from home!

Thanks to viral marketing...SERENITY: reopening soon in a theater near you.

Safe-thanks for the song! Makes more sense now. Plus, I really liked the song.

Spinny-I know some Korean! I've never been there, though. I've always wanted to travel the world, I just wasn't willing to join the military to do it.

Morning everyone!

The temp dropped drastically last night (it's 20 degrees colder this morning that it was yesterday morning) and I can feel it in my throat. If I get a cold, I'm blaming all of you! You and your cybergerms!

I'm annoyed that my throat hurts because I've got to sing tonight. My band has its first gig (if you can call playing one song at the church Variety Show a "gig").

I'm rereading HP4 also, NOS, so I'll remember it for the movie. I wanted to read 1-5 before book 6 came out, but my books all mysteriously disappeared last year. I just picked up 1-4 in paperback at a yardsale. I'm looking forward to the movie, it looks VERY exciting. And Goblet of Fire has always been my favourite book.

I'm doing bloody gorram okay, m'self.

I so did not want to get out of bed this morning, said place still warmed by a partner who could sleep in today. We've got the morning routine stuff choreographed to a finely-meshed ritual, and it felt odd puttering about solo. I did manage, even had her coffee ready when she finally did roll out. I'd have slept in much longer but she's never been able to stay slug-a-bed once she's started to awaken. She's so bright and chirpy in the morning, and I'm so dazed and sullen. Another of those "opposites attract" things, I s'pose.

CMS, I'm not entirely sure Google Map had the site of Jordon House correct, unless there are two of them. My wife reminded me we did go there, it was on the shore of a small lake that we hiked partway around to get to it (which I clearly remember, just hadn't remembered the name of the place). The location in downtown Bar Harbor takes no lake into account. Mayhap they do have two locations? The lake location was definitely aswarm with bees when we were there: I even got stung.

Happy Veteran's/Remembrance Day to everyone!

It's not serious. It's just a minor Grr moment.

Also, I'm a little on edge this week. (Nerves). The planning and organising for this convention is like a military operation. Everything seemed okay, but there's always something that messes it up. Even small things seem HUGE..

It's not a really big thing, but I just found out that I can't get my artwork signed by the guests. (It would have counted as a personal item.) They're only allowing Officially licenced items only. I might be jumping the gun, but it looks to be the case. I spent a bit of time on the thing..

There will be an art contest, so it's not the end of the world. Although, I kinda felt better getting the artwork signed rather than having to put it on display, you know?

A nearby town hosts a goofy St. Patrick's Day parade every year (it's the first event my wife & I attended together, the weekend we met). Various family members arrange to meet up at a well-known "Irish Pub" on the parade street, where they offer things like green beer and traditional Irish coffee. Since it's usually a nippy morning we generally stock up on the Irish coffees--which is actually one of the first times I ever really drank the stuff. It grows on a body, that's for certain.

CALLMESERENITY

Ugh. I can't stand Irish coffee. But I don't like whiskey. Or whisky.

I had a wheat beer the other night. Didn't like it much, either. Bread-flavoured beverages are weird.

I like froofy drinks. And I'm not ashamed.

That reminds me that I had one of the chocolates Cozen sent me for my birthday last night. He sent me this neat-o box filled with the most interesting swiss chocolates. Some of them have pictures or words on them in gold. The ones I'm saving for last say "Happy Birthday". Well,I decided last night to try one of the plain round ones, so I popped it into my mouth and WOOSH. It was filled with some STRONG liquor. I wasn't expecting that, so I nearly spit it out. But it made me feel all warm and cozy inside. And then I had to go to church.
