Now would be a great time to pick up any extra copies of Firefly that you'd be looking to give as Christmas gifts.

DeepDiscountDVD.com has these sales about this time every year and it doesn't look like Firefly is one of the restricted items. Plus free shipping. See quote below for more info.

FYI, I have bought from DeepDiscountDVD with good results.

There are some interesting things to notice on that site:

The Firefly box set is currently the number 4 best seller, behind War of the Worlds, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and (huh? gak!) Wrestlemania Anthology. It's ahead of such titles as Cinderella, Lost (1st season), Alias (4th season), and Star Wars Ep. I.

Oddly, though, if you check their "most popular searches" page, Firefly is not there, nor is Serenity. Lots of others from the best sellers list are there.

It's a bit hard to interpret what that means. Are Firefly buyers navigating to the page using other methods (such as clicking through the SciFi genre link)? Are they people who bookmarked it long ago and are just now buying?

Oddly, "Buffy" is one of the most popular searches, but that doesn't bring up a link to Firefly. Nor is any Buffy DVD among the top 20 sellers.

I'm so confused...

Ain't about you, Jayne. It's about what they need.

If I had to guess it would be 2 things:

1) Most people searching for Firefly actually buy it... people searching for other titles are just casually looking. The difference between a "wide appeal" and a "core fanbase"

2) People who buy Firefly are buying more than one copy for friends, etc.
