Yes, here it is, the new thread. I was going to wait until Wednesday to post, the one month mark, but I couldn't resist after the today's news. Dang, it's gonna be hard to squeeze in a run to the theater to see "Chronicles of Narnia: LWW"!

Since I don't have a BDP (rats, sold out before I even knew about the BDF-vention), I'm thinking maybe an early matinee on Friday. With any luck, and a theater close to the hotel, I/we could be back by 3:00 or so, ready for the evening events.

I guess we're pretty much at the mercy of the theater schedule. I'll try to find out what theaters are close to the hotel. Maybe something's in walking distance.

But even if that's so, it all depends on the starting time of the first show. Noonish and we should be fine. But if it's 1:15 or something... well, I'd hate to miss any of the Flanvention goodness just to see a movie I can catch some other day.

Amen to that, Steve. I wish I could have explained to the nice bookstore people that I needed to get a 70% discount on my college textbooks because I wanted to save money to buy a lunch ticket with the cast (sans Gina) of Serenity. I don't think they would have bought it. Whadya you think?

I think by being in the same building with them all for 3 days is enough to keep me giddy. Even just thinking about being around them all for 3 days is enough to keep me giddy.

Steve 580, let's just say my new motto is GO BIG OR GO HOME. This is just about the craziest thing I have ever done (think I'm having a mid-life crisis or something), but sometimes you just have to say 'what the f***'. By the way, you hail from Maryland, right? I'm just north of Baltimore...

PsychicRiver, I am looking forward to coming over to your neck of the woods in about a year from now...have never been and have always dreamed of coming, so I've got a two-week dream trip planned...wouldn't it be great if it happened to coincided with next year's Serenity2(3?) con? You'll have to give me some tips when I see you at the Flan!

Jet lag shouldn't be too much of a problem. The excitement will be enough.

Also, there's a lovely thread in the booster events thread (Its actually PR's thread) that some people have suggested some things to keep jet lag away. ( http://www.boosterevents.com/Default.aspx?tabid=89&g=posts&t=721 )

Some of the suggestions were to not take a nap right when you arrive, drink water on the plane, and go to sleep at the local time.

FF - Well, that's cool; it’s been my experience that spontaneous, crazy stuff is usually a lot of fun. I spent about $2000 last summer to go to Europe last minute (as in, I bought the ticket two weeks before I left...I didn’t have a passport, and I’d never previously left the time-zone).

And yeah, I'm from Riverside, which, unless you live in Riverside, you've probably never heard of (it's just south of Aberdeen). You said just north of Baltimore...Harford County, then? Or less north than that?

The last one is probably the best.

I've made coast-to-coast trips in the past, and in my experience, the westbound travel is the easy part. No real issues. It's the Eastbound leg that gets me. Also, for old farts like me, it gets tougher as you get older. Look forward to that, kiddies!

I won't be getting into the hotel until late evening, local time. Wonder how many browncoats will be wandering around the hotel at that hour?

Question for you veterans: is a Booster Events con typically a costume thing? Are we gonna see a bunch of Mals and Jaynes milling around? I won't be going all out, but there is this leather duster I've been checking out...

Worth mentioning that it's the Hilton Burbank. There are other Hiltons in and around LA (including Paris, at times... )

If you want to stay at the convention hotel, it's a good idea to reserve your room through the boosterevents site. There's a Flanvention discount, which (I discovered) gives you a much better rate than you get through Expedia and the like.

ok seeing as this convention is on such short notice i MAY have to wait till next year. i live in arizona, and probobly the only one in my group that would come close to being able to aford a trip there. if i can get my friends to go, i would probobly have a place to stay, with a friends family. if i go by myself, its the same deal, except the drive would be long, and it would cost myself alot more in gas.

if anyone from Arizona can possibly take me (preferably by car) and share a hotel room, ill pay for my share of the gas and hotel bill. leave me a message and ill meet you around town so im not a total stranger come convention time.

curse me for picking that quote for my signature... unfortunatly for me it reigns true more often than not.

A LOT of people come alone and then meet up with the people they've been talking to on the boards. Some come in groups. Doesnt really matter. Either way, its one big party!

Hi Just wanted to invite you to check out our forums at Booster. - for room sharing, ride sharing, whatever.

And the convention rate at the hotel ($99/ night or $139/night for a suite) ends on the 18th. We filled our block ages ago, so they won't extend it. Just letting you know- I think the regular rates creep up towards the $200's.

Looking forward to meeting everyone in Dec!!!

A friend of mine, a fellow Browncoat who also happens to be a pilot, likes to say: "I hate flying... unless I'm holding the yoke".

Personally, I still enjoy the smaller planes, but the big jets are just so many cattle cars these days.

Thank goodness I had enough miles for first class seats this time!

This is me being JEALOUS!

I just hope I won't be throwing up as the plan lands like I usually am...

DonCoat, don't worry, I'm a very subtle vomiter. You would hardly even notice...

Where are you flyin' in from?
