Do we really want Hot Topic sully...erm...carrying Firefly stuff? Granted, the accessability and exposure would be nice, but I can't help looking at the chain as a display of fakery, pretending to be edgy and different while playing by the same corporate rules as everyone else. I don't like my edginess marketed at the local mall. It's hard to take that seriously.

Hm. I suppose it's just the elitist in me. I guess any way to get Firefly out there is beneficial. And really, I'll take my Firefly anywhere I can get it :)

I'm a bit worried about the legitimacy of that thread, but like someone else said i'd gladly watch stupid teenagers buy up Serenity shirts if it meant more exposure/sales for the series.

Truly, I do believe it's legit...I don't think we're having the wool or polywool blend pulled over our eyes. I think they may have run into a snag by not checking who was submitting what, but I've no worries that there will be product to be had.

What's with the snooty punk/goth attitude? Aren't those the qualities in the "OTHER" side that makes kids want to where all black and stick it to the system. I remember being a goth kid and not liking most of the punkers because they were just as clicky and snobby as the jocks/rich kids.

My thing is, IF I CAN GO TO THE MALL AND BUY A SERENITY SHIRT I'M HAPPY. Don't care what chain carries it...or how "cool" the store is.

Of course I'm 28 so I've grown past a lot of that garbage.

Yeah, I'm 29. I'm simple. They got the shirt I want, they get my business. I teach enough kids who all want to be independent by looking alike that Hot Topic so doesn't bother me.

But maybe, they are so edgy that they are beyond the edgy people who are too edgy for the mall. Maybe they are so edgy that they defy the mall.

Or maybe people just like convenient outlets for merchandise.

Listen, I was making a joke. Note the self deprecating "maybe it's the elitist in me" comment. Who knew Hot Topic was such a hot button issue? Good thing I reigned in the pro-choice and Abu Ghraib jokes. (That was also a joke...)

I agree, that any store that carries Firefly stuff will get my business. I apologize for my wicked, wicked Hot Topic joke. I can see now it was wrong and it will never happen again. Just don't call me a snooty goth again, I beg you!

KAZZAHDRANE

Yeah I've noticed some people in the States being quite vocal in their "Hot Topic sold out and are totally fake" attitude, but I ignore those people to be honest. When I was in the States this summer I visited a few Hot Topics and came home with 3 Invader Zim t-shirts, something that you just can't buy here in the UK. Some of their stuff did seem pretty dumb but if they find people to buy it then good on them.

Anyway, Serenity shirts will rock my WORLD. Can get my girlfriend to bring me a couple over when she visits :D
