::waves:: Hi I'm new.

I had never heard of Firefly before even though I'm a Buffy fan from way back. When I saw the Serenity previews and heard that Joss had written it and that it was based on some tv series my husband and I got a hold of the DVD's and proceeded to watch them all on one Sat. We stayed up till 5am and were disapointed that there wasn't any more to watch.

Then we wnet to see and movie a few times and loved it as well.

Now I'm a rabid Browncoat. I've already loaned out my DVD's in an attempt to recruit others.

Brand new myself; in fact, I just finished signing up for the forum. I was intrigued by the ads for the BDM, but didn't want to see the movie before the series, so watched a bit of the marathon they had on the SciFi channel and was delighted as I hadn't seen a show so brilliant and witty in a long time, with such rich characters. I saw the BDM that weekend with a friend, ordered up the DVDs almost immediately afterwards, got a few more friends hooked and took them to see the BDM in a group a month later. Got my boyfriend hooked. And now here I am.

That was longer than neccisary, my appologies.

I'm new. Been here a week or so, but have been lurking around for much longer. Oh, my....Does that make me sound like a stalker? Don't worry: I'm kidding and really a lot nicer than a stalker and whatnot...really.

Thanks for the kind welcome.

Oh, and one more thing: In case you couldn't tell, I just love these shiny smilies.

Cheers,

Funnily enough, it was not Serenity that got me into FireFly, but it was around about the same time. To celebrate the release of Serenity, Firefly was shown back-to-back in its entirity (and in order) on the Uk SciFi channel, which i happened to watch. I enjoyed it so much, I went out and got the DVD's the very next day, and luckily for me Serenity was out a week later. I'm actually kinda glad i only discovered Firefly very recently, it meant i did not have to sit through the long and painfull wait for Serenity that i'm sure many a Browncoat had to endure!

So ive only been a browncoat for a few months,But i love it!

Q: Why don't we just raise the defensive shields?
A: A superb suggestion with just two major drawbacks. One, we don't have any defensive shields. And two, we don't have any defensive shields. Technically speaking thats only one flaw, but it was such a big one I thought I mention it twice.

Been here since the BDM.
Saw it the weekend it came out, became hooked, bought the DVDs the next Monday, and have wathced them several times each.
Incidentally, when I went to see the movie, my friends and I couldn't decide wether to see Serenity or History of Violence. I can only imagine how different my life would be if we didn't pick Serenity. :blush

I've been fighting for the Independents for a while now and I still don't understand the situation. Do networks even watch the shows before making decisions? I've seen too many people watch an episode or the movie and become instant fans to believe the people at FOX didn't like Firefly as opposed to the rest of the crap they air. Reality television is a joke and the dismal animated comedies are long since seen. I used to watch the Simpsons and Family Guy and King of the Hill, etc... until I saw them all. Now they just bore the hell out of me. The same goes with every other sitcom they have: Can someone say 'Home Improvement'? That's been dead for half a decade plus change- I just can't comprehend why this crap remains televised while the greatest show in the history of television (bias aside) gets trashed. It's illogical, better yet, absent of logic.

Anyway, ranting ceased.

New here, and new to Firefly/Serenity in general. Love it all though...I haven't been this enthused over a show since Macross, and that was back in the 80's...feels good to get excited over a story and characters again. I've been a lurker here for a while myself...not feeling "worthy" of posting along with you long-time Browncoats...but, what the hey...You all seem like a bunch of cool folks.

And if you don't want me around these parts...please...whatever you do...don't strip me naked and throw me to Inara, Kaylee, and River...

My husband read a review about "Serenity" and it mentioned that a lot of the Trekkies fell in love with Firefly. Extremely doubtful anything could be better than Star Trek, I reluctantly rented the first DVD of Firefly. The rest as they say is history.

The husband and I are hooked, and I will be working on recruiting mom over Thanksgiving.

I've been lurking on the site for a couple of weeks now. Thanks for the welcome.

Now I have to go practice my chinese...

I'm new as well. Been on here for maybe 2-3 weeks tops, and discovered Firefly after seeing Serenity. I'm a happily obsessed browncoat now, and so is my dad. We watched all the episodes in one weekend, and I was very impressed. Never before had I developed such a connection to the characters after only one or two episodes. Truely brilliant. And it goes without saying that Serenity was AMAZINGLY AMAZING. Super shiny.
This community is great, btw. Everyone is so nice!

Zoe: 'Big Damn Heroes, Sir'

Hi all. I'm new. While new here, I'm an old fan of Firefly. I watched it on Fox when it first came out. Have the seasons on DVD, the companion book to the movie, saw the movie twice, and have the dvd for it on order.

If I were a member of the crew, I'd be a combination of Wash and Jayne. I have Wash's humor and Jayne's ability with firearms.
