Just wondering if anyone out there thinks that anyone of the wonderful working actors that portray our BDH's will become a "Major Movie Star".

I think if anyone does it could be Nathan. He can do comedy or drama (usually both in a Firefly epiosde),is mega good looking, and seems to be on the rise.

The other maybes on my list are Gina, Sean and Summer.

What do you think?

It's possible. I know Nathan'll be headlining another sci-fi flick from 'Versal in March. It's called SLITHER, and it's from the dude that did the remake of DAWN OF THE DEAD. The trailer is really tounge in cheek, but in a good way. Who knows. Might be a hit. So I'm betting that maybe he'll break out huge. Maybe after Tom Cruise has officially gone insane, he can step in for him.

Alan is already a reliable go to guy for supporting roles. Can't imagine him graduating to the A-list.

As for the others, I'm just hoping that Jewel and Sean don't rise to the A or B list too soon. I want to cast them in my own indies. Sean I think could have a great career, and needs the right thing to break him out of that tv guest star ghetto he's in. That LIVING TILL THE END thing if his shows that he can avoid the whole Orlando Bloom mimbo thing and move towards a Johnny Depp like career.

I'm still hoping the world will discover Adam Baldwin. He keeps getting cast in roles that need a military/paramilitary/law enforcement aspect, with little or no opportunity for humor, or usually, even a little humanity.

The most recent example is Poseidon Adventure. He was a very competant cop figure, and we never got to decided whether we liked him or not. It was only in the final minutes of the film that we discovered his character had a family.

Firefly/Serenity gave him a chance to demonstrate some interpersonal feelings and some comedy. I want to see more. It's time the world (and the casting directors) realized what we know.

Interesting questoin.. and one of those "be careful what you wish for" sort of things..

If ANY of the BDH's become major film stars, A-List etc. etc. then they will be less likely to be at conventions and to be as accessible...

It is a conundrum...

I think Nathan and Summer especially have great acting abilities and could go very far. Alan is a great talent and will always be working,

I personally wish for them all... that they become as famous and/or successful as they wish.. and I will be happy for them.. but if any of them become mega stars.. I will miss the accessibility that we enjoy at the moment.. so let us all relish and enjoy it while we can!

I think they all deserve the big time if that's what they want. I know Nathan could very easily become a wildly successful a-list actor. He's incredibly handsome, he's a comedic genius, and he can act his dramatic butt off better than anyone I've seen.

I would absolutely love to meet all of them, but especially Nathan, one day. And I get a huge thrill seeing them post on message boards, getting the impression these are relatively normal, fun people you could see yourself hanging out with.

But let's face it, I'm unlikely to ever meet them, as are most fans. Ultimately, I find it pretty selfish to wish for a second that their careers don't take off, simply so that we can have them to ourselves. The fact that they have been so kind and accessable to us means there is no group of people more deserving of success, and I wish it for them from the bottom of my heart.

Did you notice that Nathan has signed on to do a romantic comedy with Kerri Russell (the girl from Felicity)? It's called "Waitress" although I don't know when it's supposed to be out.

That said - I think it'll be Nathan first given that Adam just did the NBC Poseidon Adventure as his follow-up(lame movie...he was the only good thing about it!). I hope Adam gets some better stuff - he deserves it.

We could get a surprise with Morena if she gets cast as Wonder Women though!

Love them all though!

Really hated the remake of Poseidon Adventure.

They didn't know what they were doing with any of the characters, but Adam Baldwin and Rutger Hauer were badly used. Hell, Peter Weller got butchered, and for no good plot or dramatic reason. (The side-plot with the idiot officer is not, repeat, not a good plot reason!)

Howlers, all the way through the movie. The last one I saw, the one that broke the camel's back, was killing off the adultress. I realize that all the jilted wives in America wanted the other woman dead, but, come on, she got Mr. Adulterer moving after the ship capsized. She was a survivor. Character should count for more than 'plot', sometimes, and this is one of them.

If I had the $$$ and influence, I'd like to get Adam Baldwin for Willie Garvin and maybe Morena for Modesty Blaise. Or, for the Vorkosi-verse, my favorite Space Opera, hire some Joss Whedon players for mini-series version of Lois McMaster Bujold's Shards of Honor and Barrayar. Adam Baldwin as Sergeant Bothari, Jewel Stait as Princess Kareen and Morena Baccarin as Lady Vorpatril. Sean Maher could play the gullible young Jump pilot Ardie Mayhew in a cameo (or Ges Vorrutyer, with a little grey in his hair!). Wouldn't mind getting Allison Hannigan to play Cordelia Naismith/Lady Vorkosigan.

Oh, well. Didn't mean to try to hijack the thread.

Nathan? Romantic comedy? I'm in! Sweet!

You know, this really is awesome news for his career. He's been in one major motion picture (Serenity), followed almost immediately by another (Slither), and now he already has another movie lined up? Very cool.

I certainly did not mean to imply that I would ever want the BDH careers to remain at a lower level just to keep access for the fans.. if I did imply that, forgive me.

I wish them all the success and happiness that they desire.

Oh, I certainly didn't mean it that way. The same thoughts as yours have crossed my mind too:) But I just know they have given us a lot, and I wish them the very best.

I think both Nathan and Summer have it in them. Which would be a bit of a double edged sword. On one hand I wish them successes but on the other im a fan of Nathan’s voice work (which would obviously stop being a priority if he became bigger) and I don’t want to see the day Summer goes Hollywood.

Actually Summer is in an interesting place right now. After Serenity I can see her being offered big action “kick ass chick” roles, which I don’t think she is very interested in playing. Her website says she is waiting for a role to come along to “challenge her” which does suggest to me she might have already got an offer along the lines of “We have this great role for you. You’ll be playing this though no nonsense woman. A role model really. You’ll spend the whole movie shooting people with your twin guns, showing no emotion and kicking ass. And here’s the best part, you’ll be doing it all in a leather bikini!”

Yes, I do hate Hollywood.

I was right behind you with that question, Jetflair... I've got to listen for him in those!

Thank you Haze for answering us.

I also think that Nathan is going to go A-list soon... he's got everything going for him, and I'm with Jetflair... a romantic comedy is next for him?! ( yes, yes, yes!!!) I'll be buying tickets to that!!!

Summer Glau will be huge. I think she is going to be cast as Wonder Woman. That is just a rumor I heard, but I can definately see it.

I thought the rumor was for Morena to play Superwoman? I can see her more than Summer. But maybe that's just me.

As for the who will go "big time" - I would say that Adam Baldwin is easily the most recognizeable of the crew, but both he and Alan have to rely on their semin-anonymity to maintain their 'character player' status. I think it's kind of the same thing for Jewel.

Morena and Summer, however, have nowhere to go but to the stars. I would love to see Summer in a nice meaty role that really shows off what she can do!
