How will the Alliance deal with the signal that was sent out during the movie?

When answering is question we must ask others.

Will the Alliance acknowledge the signal as legitimate, or will they sweep it under the rug? This is probably the biggest question. The alliance has been spinning Reavers as folklore ever since the ventured out into the verse. If folk don’t believe in Reavers then the signal can easily be dismissed as a hoax. The Alliance reaction to the signal will dictate more to the creditability of the signal then to what the signal actually says. This will pose a quandary to the parliament. Do we acknowledge our mistake and make amends and get everything out in the open? Or do we pass it off as another chapter in the Reaver myth that is soo popular on the rim worlds?

If the Alliance admits guilt there will probably be moral outrage. Some heads will roll. Reaver victims will want compensation. Worlds will want more security from Reaver attacks. The Alliance will probably get pulled into a war with Reavers that will be long and expensive (not something they want but they cant avoid it). And there will be a backlash on government control of society.

If the Alliance passes it off they will fare better in the short term, but may have another War for Independence on their hands. Few in the core worlds believe in Reavers, Miranda is extremely hare to find in the cortex, and who is going to believe a bunch of felons? The problem is the Reavers are not going away anytime soon. The Browncoats are willing to believe it. And any planet or moon next to Reaver space will be screaming its head off trying to get protection. In the long run dismissing and covering it up more will overshadow the original problem.

But ultimately it is for Joss to decide and us to enjoy. Keep flyin and may the only Reaver you see be on the screen

My thoughts are that the alliance is prolly gonna try to blame the whole thing on a small group of high up "corrupt" individuals and that the whole signal thing fosters enough for there to be a small uprising. As in the wars not over yet. I can't help but feel like the war for indepence will start up again.

Depending on the connection between Blue Sun and the Alliance, the Miranda transmission might prove to be fortuitous. Do people actually know that Blue Sun is running the Alliance? Does Blue Sun have full control of the Alliance government? I’m getting the feeling that Blue Sun actually runs everything from the shadows and no one really knows of their involvement since no obvious connections were implied in the series, the comics, or the movie. I also think that Blue Sun does not have full control of the Alliance government since the hands of blue guys were called “independent contractors” at the end of the comics when the Operative is introduced. Blue Sun may now have the opportunity to engineer a coup to eliminate the current regime and put in a completely loyal puppet government.

As for a second war, it would mean a world of trouble for Mal. He doesn't trust the Independents anymore after the Independent leaders abandoned him and his men at Serenity Valley. Plus I wouldn't be surprised if the Browncoats were just as brutal and cruel in their methods as the Alliance. Chances are that the Browncoats will go after River, not just for the secrets within her mind but because she is a powerful which they can use against the Alliance. They might even want to cut her up, see how she works, so they can make an army with her powers.
