New Years Eve Party in Aiken, South Carolina!!!

And everyone's invited!

That's right, I'm having a shindig New Year's Eve.

It's going to be held here

ideally located in the heart of Downtown Aiken (it's a very small heart.) It's within walking distance of several bars, restaurants, a coffee shop and some funky stores.

Now I know most of you are thinking "Where the heck is Aiken?"

The answer is: In the Middle of Nowhere.

BUT, it is in a very convenient location. Aiken is about 3 hrs from Atlanta,GA, Charleston, SC and Fayetteville, NC. It's about 2 1/2hrs from Charlotte, NC and Greensville, SC. 4 hrs from Raleigh. And only a 1/2hr from Augusta, GA. It's in a nice, central location.

And people are more than welcome to stay for the whole weekend, or an extra day or two. My brother, CallMeAth will be down, as will our beloved shiny goddess, XanderLHarris (Ash). So if people would like to hang around town for the weekend, I can find some fun stuff for us to do. Like go ice skating in Augusta or play laser tag. Or watch Serenity on DVD. Repeatedly.

Right on! Party! I will be bringing more of that blue stuff......you know the one with "layers". Hopefully i will be bringing a brand new XBox360 as well. That is if they get one in on time for me to get. I am on the preorder list but there is a big shortage on the consoles.

And our shiny goddess is going to be there, which is good enough reason for anyone! Though you're relatively new and probably don't know about our shiny goddess, Ash. She arranged the NCBDMPP (North Carolina Big Damn Movie Premiere Party) where we all got together in Raleigh and saw the premiere of Serenity. There were costume contests and much shindigery and a great time was had by all. AND she makes a wicked batch of chocolate chip cookies.

I'm in Greenville, SC, so that is VERY tempting. The DragonCon stuff you mentioned, what was it called, any idea? I knew people in this area of the south, down into Florida, who would make a whole slew of wackiness in drink form. Pan-Galactic Gargleblasters and the like.

I don't know if it was called anything other than Purple Punch. It was great. It had about 5 incredients in it, including sprite and raspberry schnapps and what else, Ash? Tequila maybe? If anyone knows, let us know!!

I've always wanted to try a Pan-Galactic Gargleblaster! Nothing like having your brain grated by a slice of lemon, or however the saying goes.

Just looked online and found several recipes (most of them looking VERY nasty! Whee!), may have to give them a try! It won't kill us to mix themes, will it?

Hey Serenity, have room for one more? I'll have to double-check finances, but it sounds like a fun time coming!
I'll offer to bring my amp and speakers (only Pro-Logic though) to hook up to Ash's new X-Box 360, and we can watch the BDM in the hotel with some serious sound before heading out bar-hopping.

Lissa I made the cookies for one of the screenings of Serenity way before the NCBDMPP. When I made them I added food coloring to give them an interesting look. Most of them turned out well but one of the batches looked something like poo.

I think that BC1's wife, Autumn, might know how the Purple Punch was made so I will call her tomorrow.

I cannot wait!

For those of you driving I have for you:

Directions To The Hotel!

It is VERY EASY.

From I-20, you get off at exit 22, Route 1, Aiken. At the light off the exit, you turn left. You stay on that road for several miles. It will eventually turn into York Road. Just keep on goin'. You'll get into the more urbany (I use the term losely) area, with the pretty houses and the trees and you will come to a light at Richland Avenue. Turn right. You'll go down a block or two and the hotel will be on your left. Park anywhere.

A quick note on the roads in downtown Aiken. Most of them are a bit odd, they're one way roads with a big median in the middle. You have to be careful to make sure you don't turn down a one way street. Some intersections have big fountains or flowery things or statues in the middle. If you make a left turn and there is one of the aforementioned structures in the middle of the road, you are allowed to go through the red light AFTER you stop to make sure there are no cars coming. There are signs posted, if it helps. Fortunately, downtown is a very small area. Most of it's within walking distance.

Hey, So I'm working Sat. still don't know about Sun. but I'm 2.5 hours away and will likely come on down. I've got mapquesty goodness on directions, and the drunks shouldn't be on the road yet by the time I head down. Depending on when I leave work, Well I don't know when I'll get there, what I should bring?, or where at the hotel to look for you guys. Is there a "main party in room #??" Is there an approximate head count? Will I be looking for "those 5 people over there." or "that group of 50 people that just wandered off singing about some hero?"
