Orson Scott Card (the author of Ender's Game, the Alvin maker series, and tons of other great books) is a big fan. He has a great review on his website of the movie, talking about Joss' use of language, and the excellent community that Firefly built.

Neil Gaiman likes it -- he even said people shouldn't feel bad about seeing Serenity before his own movie, MirrorMask.

I seem to recall Jerry Pournelle liking Firefly although I haven't seen any comments from him about Serenity...
