I was just wondering if anyone knew if the deleted scene of Mal holding Inara outside the ship right after they heard the message on Miranda exists somewhere? I thought maybe it would be on the DVD, and I'm upset that it wasn't. Anyone know if it is online somewhere? Did they even film it? I was so looking forward to seeing it.

Hi,

I don't live in the US so can't actually offer you any info but just wanted to say that's too bad, I too was looking forward to watching that scene ever since I read the script in the visual companion.

Even though its a small scene I would have loved to have seen it included as it means so much for Mal and Inara. Maybe it will be released on the region 2 or 4 versions and therefore end up online and available to download at some point.

By the way which deleted scenes are included on the region 1 edition?

They did film it. I saw it at one of the very early previews in London. I remember loving that scene because I felt we needed to see some tenderness between Mal and Inara and was really disappointed when it didn't make it into the film.

Hopefully it will surface somewhere.

I tend to follow the thinking, that if its deleted theres prolly a reason. Mostly that they don't flow well with the movie and thus are just boring. And if they have to cut scenes that are worth me watching and are interesting to watch, then they prolly didn't make a good movie.

Just my 2 cents (but i would like to see that scene, maybe)

I was very disappointed too--the only hint you can get of that scene now is in the Visual Companion, where there are one or two still shots, and in the DVD gag reel--you see Mal/Nathan standing outside the rescue ship, looking all distressed, then suddenly he starts to dance. The camera pulls back and there's Inara/Morena off to one side waiting for him to get serious.

Ah, well. The scene where they talk in her shuttle after leaving Haven sort of makes up for the other one being missing.

This scene (which I have been anticipating since looking at the Visual Companion and reading the novel) was one of the main reasons I rushed out to buy the DVD. I hope we get another chance to see this moment on film in the form of another DVD edition.

Gorram it, ALL the deleted scenes were great, and should be in the gorram movie!!!

We need a double-dip to include deleted scenes!
