Yes, its a pity i've already chosen to call my own Ariadne Mia (it was once Amritha Mia, meaning 'my precious one') but Amritha would definetly get you damaged in school.

Funnily enough, two of the names I selected for boys were Malcom Richard or Nathanial Richard so whatever happens my son will have a Firefly connection.

Kal-el? yeesh.. I no longer feel bad

whoever came up with the name "Persephone" for a childs name should be shot, or at least defiled by a genetically altered rhino for even suggesting that name.

Some of those other names suggested will only get your daughter into fights at school.

The most important thing about a middle name is that it have the right number of sylables to properly roll off the tounge when the child is doing something destructive ;-)

I dunno, I've got three names + surname and my mom still managed to yell every single one of 'em when I was in for it.

I think its a gift, or maybe a homonally induced talent - you have to have had a child to do it. like painfinger, or the instictive knowledge of when to pull a hanky out and start cleaning your kids face to maximise embaressment.

How about Josslyn? that way you're paying tribute to the guy who created the show and character and using the female version of the name. I have a cousin named that and it's spelled like that but pronounced like jess-linn.

Congratulations, and do tell us all what you eventually decide. River's a very pretty name and I think Mei is a good idea for a middle name. I also really like Kaylee. It's probably my favourite name from the show. What about River Serenity?
