During the run of the film, this site routinely posted the box office returns for the movie. Does anybdoy know how we're doing on DVD rentals and sales?

The problem is that, unlike the box office, studios are very tight-lipped about their DVD sales (presumably to hide the huge gobs of cash they’re raking in hand over fist). That’s why, for example, the total number of “Firefly” DVDs sold has always remained nebulous. So, the only tracker of our sales strength that we have is the Amazon.com top sellers list, which Haken tracks here: http://fireflyfans.net/amazonserenity.asp. This is our only measure of our sales strength, which is why everyone has been making so much noise about it. We’re currently at #1 on the sales, but I’m told that we have to stay there for weeks or months if we’re to get enough for a sequel/continuation. So, we still have a ways to go.

I looked on Amazon's home page. There are several lists that Serenity and Firefly are on 1. top selling DVD, 2. most gifted item, and 3. most wished for item. Of course, this does not tell us enough but still good to know.

Maybe a ways to go, but its a strong start, and the Amazon ratings dont even take into account all the total sales from other stores, physical and online, so its possible that we`re a lot farther ahead than we hope...
