I'm trying my hand at a bit of fanfic, and noticed that Mal doesn'have anybody to really talk with anymore, in the easy guything way he could with Wash or Book.
He's Sgt./Capt. to Zoe; Jayne and Kaylee aren't operating at his level; he's tongue-tied with Inara, and Simon or River... well, prob'ly not.

Do you think Mal would pull back into himself, or would he change one of his relationships; if so which one?

2nd Q: I noticed on the DVD that the crowd attending that Comicon was surprisingly older than I thought it would be. Do you think that is typical of the fans overall?

I think Zoe would definatley be the one he would talk to most personally now, if she wasn't already, and he already talks to her like she's one of the guys (apart from when he said "you're a girl, right?"). They have so much history together and, with Wash gone, they would probably become even closer (they'll both have similar, bleak outlooks on life now); until Mal and Inara hook up, then it would be poor Zoe who's left all alone :(

I don't think it's so far-fetched that Mal could develop a close friendship with Simon.
Sure, he's a dandy and all, but he "ain't weak, and that's not nothin'"...

Space- thanks for the quick getback. Somehow I'm thinking of that line of Zoe's: 'Heros get people killed'.
Given the at best middlin' impact of playing that tape, and all the people including Wash killed; I'm thinking she's gonna have some real issues with Mal now and keep things on a pretty formal level.

pondering that... I miss Wash already.

How do you see that? Simon is totally Core, and of all the crew the least '3D' to me. He must change- he can't always just be injecting/protecting River. But change how?
