and mistletoe and lovely sparkly baubles...

yes, with only 4 days to go I figured it was about time I got round to it.

So feel free to be as festive or not as you please, though I am setting a challenge for you all -find the worst christmas cracker joke that you can.

So to start us off I have this little delight

"what does a polite mouse always say?"

"cheese and thank you"

Yes. Well, on that note, I believe someone mentioned hot buttered rum...

PS. I keep meaning to say this - newbies! welcome! help yourself to alcohol, and cushions, and anything else that takes your fancy, theres trail mix around here somewhere... We always welcome novelty wafflings.

I'm sorry to say most Americans don't know what Christmas crackers are. I belong to a 'tea group'
and I'm a fan of Dr. Who, Hitch-hiker's Guide etc. so along the way I found out about them. Bought a package for my family two years ago, they are very expensive over here, $12 for four of them, we get them at those import type stores,
(Pier 1 Imports). I guess your going to educate us! Maybe somebody can remember reindeer jokes ??

Haven't any of you read Harry Potter?

I LOVE crackers. I'll save my jokes for you, Seryn.

I buy Christmas crackers at my little downtown british grocer place. And I think I paid $7 for a box of 10. $12 for 4 is a serious rip-off. I saw some at Pier1 the other day, they were a better deal than that.

I'll have to bring a few to my NYE party so people can see what they are. If my brother and I don't pop them all on Christmas Eve.

Okay, and now for an explanation as to what they are:
http://www.oldenglishcrackers.com/

They are much fun. Two people each hold and end and you pull, and the little popper inside goes POP and out falls a silly little joke, a cheap plastic toy and a paper hat you wear on your head the rest of the night.

That's an easy decision. You want to come to Dragon*Con. It's in Atlanta at the end of august/beginning of September. Don't know the exact dates off the top of my head. But you want to come! I'll be there, as will JadeHand and anyone who's anyone. I'm told it's the largest Con in the US.

Ahhhh...those. Yea, had my first expierence with those way back, when was it?.....Yea, last year. No hat just little figurine and a piece of paper which may have been a joke. See to me, Crackers are either the little crispy things you put cheese on, or a white guy in the wrong neighborhood 40 years ago. *shrugs*
*adds new definition of cracker to personal dictionary....Note:not tasty with cheese*

Oh, and yes Dragon*Con is the place to be. Might not be the biggest con, but at least the biggest in the SE US. Always the first weekend of Sept. so that's a ways off. Still like the idea of a Browncoat floor with the flag hanging off the balconies.

Anyone want some nog in their rum?

*snort*

Funny-ish story for you. Entitled "The Time Serenity Got Sloshed at Work."

A couple of years ago, I was working at a catalogue company and the owner bought all this food for us for a Christmas lunch. I was in the office working away like a good girl while she and a few others were setting up. She had some store-bought eggnog that I saw her pour into a punch bowl.
I thought the eggnog was really yummy (better tasting than most brands) so I had 2 big mugfuls of it.
Well, soon thereafter, I start getting the giggles and my face gets all flushed and I can't stop laughing and someone says to me "How much eggnog did you drink?" And I said I had two mugfuls of it. And they went "You did WHAT?!?" And then everyone in the room starts laughing because THEY all knew that there was tequila in the eggnog but no one thought to tell me.

I wasn't allowed to answer the phone for the rest of the day and I got teased about it forever.

When four of Santa's elves got sick, the trainee elves did not produce toys as fast as the regular ones, and Santa began to feel the Pre-Christmas Pressure.

Then Mrs. Claus told Santa her Mother was coming to visit, which stressed Santa even more.

When he went to harness the reindeer, he found that three of them were about to give birth and two others had jumped the fence and were out, Heaven knows where.

Then when he began to load the sleigh, one of the floorboards cracked, the toy bag fell to the ground and all the toys were scattered.

So, frustrated, Santa went in the house for a cup of apple cider and a shot of rum. When he went to the cupboard, he discovered the elves had drunk all the cider and hidden the liquor.

In his frustration, he accidentally dropped the cider jug, and it broke into hundreds of little glass pieces all over the kitchen floor.

He went to get the broom and found the mice had eaten the end of the broom.

Just then the doorbell rang, and irritated Santa marched to the door, yanked it open , and there stood a little angel with a great big Christmas tree.

The angel said very cheerfully, "Merry Christmas, Santa. Isn't this a lovely day? I have a beautiful tree for you. Where would you like me to stick it?"

And so began the tradition of the little angel on top of the Christmas tree.

ORPHEUS

Ooh, what's under the tree for me?

::unwraps present:: Gasp! It's the copy of Serenity that nobody gave me this year ()! NOW it's the best Christmas ever!

Here's a tip for all of you for next Christmas: Don't ask for something that comes out the week before Christmas. They won't wait that long to shop for you. I've learned that two years in a row (last year it was Shaun of the Dead).

Anyway, Merry Christmas again everyone!

CALLMESERENITY

Orpheus-I CAN'T BELIEVE no one gave you Serenit!!. What an outrage!!

I am still waiting to find out if I got my copy. But I made enough ruckus that I'm 90% sure I'll get it.

My Christmas list went something like this:

Serenity
a book
Serenity
a CD
Serenity
a cute sweater
Serenity
a DVD
Serenity

Let's hope they got the hint.

Serenity, First Officer of Destiny
President of the Juggled Gosling Chatroom

Haha, I was wrapping presents last night at my parent's house, so of course I listened to some music as I was doing that task. My dad came downstairs to do a couple work related things and heard the brutal insanity of the music I was listening to and said "nice Christmas music!" to me, haha. I was like, hey, i'm in a good mood...I'm going to listen to my happy music ;D (remembering never)

JADEHAND

I think I better hang out in the jacuzzi a while too. My neck has been giving me problems for days. If anyone is up for Billiards later let me know, I used to be alright back in the college days.
