the crappy reviews given by viewers on amazon?....for serenity and I seen some reviews on blockbuster.com too that were bad.
The people that gave this movie 1 or 2 stars really pissed me off, they omg...I dont know their reviews just make them sound like they are completely stupid people and very shallow too =(

I love the long 1 star reviews where they go through the entire movie and pick out parts they dont like, I just love reading how TOTALLY WRONG they got the story in this movie and characters names are incorrect...one guy calling them reappers???? LOL its just hilarious.

I wish...these people didnt exist =(

The only ones I respect that compared it to firefly and therefore the lowish score they gave it, and if some of u are on here...thats cool too.
But for someone outright say this movie is horrible...well they should be shot.

Sorry, I just had to vent...I hope more of u noticed the horribly stupid feedback reviews some people are giving, its saddening =(

SPACEHOPPER

I know exactly what you mean. I read that review where the guy called Reavers 'reapers', and I had to laugh - how many of the characters does he think are the Shepherd? Apparently Shepherd rescued River and Shepherd fought the Operative at the end! What movie was this retard watching? Hopefully people who haven't seen the film and read that review see that this guy is a wierdo and 0 out of 40 people found the review useful.
There are other amusing things in there as well so I thought I'd post it for everyone to read:

Quote:

by some twat called James:
I really wanted to like this film after watching the trailer on t.v., but as the film went on, I could not help but kept rolling my eyes. Here are things I did not like: SPOILERS!
1. First five to ten minutes of the film was great (where the girl gets rescued). The beginning looked really great with the girl being in a dream like state and talking about the difference between Alliance and the Independents. Then she gets rescued from the chair she was strapped in. After this, the film went really corney. As the bad guy looks at the film, he asks the doctor that he has too much of pride and that's why he failed. He then tells the doctor to look at Shepard's face and ask why he successeed. When the doctor did not know, the bad guy says Shephard has "love". At first I thought that he meant Shepard was in love with this girl, but he meant that Shepard was human capable of love.
2. The so called good guys kept going from place to place, and back to same place to place running away from things. The majority of actions you see in this picture was different space ships kept caught on fire because they were shot at.
3. I did not like the character of the girl name River. She is an aneroxic looking girl with psychic power/super martial arts power. She basically walks around looking all depressed, being very quite, and at times just whine, whine and whine. But, then sudddenly she would for no reason at all runs super fast and does all kinds of martial art tricks. Towards end of the movie, when the good guys were all trapeed in this room when the Reapers were coming in, she jumps out of the doorway where they were coming in, and when she leaves the room the door closes, she then somehow ends up doing martial arts all by herself killing off 100 or more of the reapers. They all get killerd by her--are you kidding me?!
4. The story of how reappers came to be. The female doctor says that she and some scientist formulated some chemical to make people unviolent, and they somehow sent gasses into where the whole population were. 90 percent of the populations for some reason slowley died because their plan did not work. But, 10 percent of the population became extremely violent and went around killing people in diffenrent planets. Now, how come the 90 percent of the poplulation that died looked normal, but the 10 percent who survied look like monsters from the Zombie movies? Why are they orange in color? How come they don't kill eachother off just the normal looking people? In the movie, they don't seem intellegent, they don't speak to one another--their simply became monsters. But, somehow they managaged to all come together and form an alliance, and then they agree to get a space ship to sail to other planets to kill normal looking people. Give me a break!
5. The dialgo in this movie was just horrible and people just remdomly get togher with one anothe, when they have not even shown why they were attractd to one another. Here's an example of one. Towards the end, when good guys were in this room and about to fight off reapers that were trying to come into the room, they all pretty much think they are going to all die fighting them. When this River's brother turnes to a girl and says something like I regret not knowing you better. The girl turns to him and says "you mean sex?! He says "yes". She then says "well then I'm going to live!" What kind of lines were they. If a guy says that to a girl, don't you think that she would be offend that he was interested in having sex with her? He did not say that he was interested in getting to know her better to have some serious relationship with her, but he just wanted to have sex with her and it fine by her.
6. I thought that the movie could not get any worse, but then the end of the movie arrived. The bad guy who has been following them was in a room alone with Shepard. Shepard took blow after blow from this guy, and this guy only took a few blow from him but he goes down at the end. The bad guy even stabs a long sword into Shepard, and Shepard just pulls it out and continue fighting him. The bad guy used certain move in the beginning to freeze the doctor, and the doctor being unalbe to move, fell forward onto a long sward and dies (I thought this was a good part). But, when the bad guy does the same thing to Shepard, Shepard only freezes for few seconds and was able to move and defeat the bad guy. Shepard said the reason why he could move was the he was hit by some shrapnal in the past and had surgery to get some stuff removed from his body-WHAT?! Then, Shepard don't kill the bad guy, he just straps him in and makes him watch a video. The very end, when River kills all the reappers and the door behind her blows off and the bad guys army comes in and tell them to put down their weapons. I thought that they were going to have a show down, but then the bad guy some how I guess freed himself, showed up in the room and tells his people to let everybody go. The bad guy who was not human and was programmed to go after them, somehow grew a heart and let them all go. After all the crap that I had to go through, the ending was a real let down. This movie was based on the t.v. show Fire Fly, which I have never seen before. But, if Fire Fly was as bad as this movie, then I'm glade that I did not see it.

I found James had a poor grasp of English so I have translated:

Quote:

After this, the film went really corney. As the bad guy looks at the film, he asks the doctor that he has too much of pride and that's why he failed. He then tells the doctor to look at Shepard's face and ask why he successeed. When the doctor did not know, the bad guy says Shephard has "love". At first I thought that he meant Shepard was in love with this girl, but he meant that Shepard was human capable of love.

In translation:
Duh, dar was da man talkin', he didn't kill nobody, he wasn't carrying two big guns. I don't understand plot, stupid, what's the point in people talking?

Quote:

2. The so called good guys kept going from place to place, and back to same place to place running away from things. The majority of actions you see in this picture was different space ships kept caught on fire because they were shot at.

In translation:
Why didn't they just throw the Dillithium matrix into over drive and force a cascade reaction through the bus b buffer thereby wiping out the Alliance threat with a tachyon cascade. That's what they do in Star Trek.
I mean obviously a small unarmed transport vessel can take out an entire Interstellar alliance single handedly in the real world, it's stupid they can't do it in a film.

Quote:

3. I did not like the character of the girl name River. She is an aneroxic looking girl with psychic power/super martial arts power. They all get killerd by her--are you kidding me?!

In translation:
Some small girl with emotional issues. Why do I care about that? Arnold Swazzenager doesn't need that sort of crap in his film for crying out loud.
Oh yeah and a girl winning a fight, what’s up with Tosh Beadan, doesn't he know all women are good for are cooking and cleaning and screaming for the hero to save them?
Quote:

4. The story of how reappers came to be. The female doctor says that she and some scientist formulated some chemical to make people unviolent, and they somehow sent gasses into where the whole population were. 90 percent of the populations for some reason slowley died because their plan did not work. What's a chemical? Everyone knows people go crazy because they're possessed by daemons, what's chemicals got to do with it?

In translation:
Then they expect me to listen to more dialogue, god. I'm completely too stupid to remember the entire film up to this point that's been pointing out the attraction between Simon and Kaylee, in an Arnie film they don't expect you too remember what happened five minutes previously, what's up with that. Oh yeah and Brain Tweadon gets women completely wrong again. Kaylee shows sexual interest in Simon, when are people going to listen to me! Women don't like sex, they like cleaning and cooking and looking after babies, oh and they like it when I kidnap them and keep them in my dungeon.
There's still all this talking going on. I mean what Fd up language are they speaking anyway.

More talking, man. I don't understand anything your saying! Who is this Jerry Freedman anyway?
I've seen Arnie fight in films so I know how this stuff works ok Jerry. If someone’s hit or hurt they fall over immediately. Unless they're Arnie and they're shot, then they laugh it off. That's realism.
The bad guy tells them to stand down for no reason, why were they even on the planet, it's never explained, unless the reason was explained five minutes beforehand, in which case they only have themselves to blame. Who can remember what happened in a film that long ago, what am I the memory man?
Anyway, the baddie must of freed himself because he talks to his army. I mean you can't talk long distance can you. You'll be telling me Radio's really exist next.
What the hell is a nerve cluster? Since when have 'nerves' had anything to do with the Human body?
The bad guy was defiantly a robot cause people never do bad things ever, it's always Aliens, or Daemons, or Aliens possessed by daemons but not people. That's not realistic. Why did the happy little elves that you see in the beginning of the movie I just made up program their killer death robot with a heart? Or did he go to the wizard of Oz, I forget. Anyway the most realistic thing about the whole movie was the baddie being a ten foot Godzilla monster from Blargsphere built by the happy little elves of ceti alpha six.

In conclusion Happy little elves in FireFry versus the Wizard of Oz was crap.

Hey, I had a thought. On every one of the customer reviews, there is an option to choose if you thought that particular review was helpful. On ALL of the ones that give it a good review, we should say yes, and on all of the negative ones, we should say no. With all of us doing this, others will see the HUGE numbers of people (us) that found the GOOD reviews helpful and that might help them go out and buy it.

Just a thought!

This Shepard, or 'Simon' as some of us like to call him at this particular point of the movie, seems to be everywhere! How can anyone be so retarded that they don't know its Simon when I do believe that the first thing he says to River is 'It's Simon. Please. It's Simon. It's your brother.' And just incase you hadn't quite worked out his name, the next line is River saying to him 'Simon, they know you've come.' If you're still not sure who the guy rescuing River is, you probably should have spent your entrance money on a picture book and stayed at home to gaze at the pretty colours.

If he got this confused by Serenity, I dread to think what he thought Hitchiker's was about!

Actually you know what, I looked at ratio of bad reviews to good ones, thank god the first 50 or so are bad and the rest of the 400 are like AWESOME, but its interesting look at the bad ones they are like 1 out of 70 people found this helpful...yet on all the good ones usually 1/1 ratio of who found it helpful , like 38/40 people found it helpful...so I was relieved many arent paying attention to the stupid reviews =) kinda like u stated hehe.

And yeah I can seriously see the head of fox being the guy that wrote that hilariously retarded review haha...thats funny =)

Amazon.com reviews are not the most useful thing in the world. I've found that Amazon.com user reviews of nonfiction books are helpful, because those tend to be written by people who are knowledgeable in the field the book deals with.

But for fiction of any kind, whether written or dramatic, the signal-to-noise ratio is way off. I wouldn't worry about it overmuch.

Thanks, Citizen for the translation. I appreciate it since I've never taken any classes in InbredRedneck or CompleteMoron. I only speak and write English fluently and a little Spanish.

Your translation of James's review was to put it mildly, hilarious! Hope you have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

None of us should pay any serious attention to the idiots who write these reviews. Firefly and Serenity were written and targetted to an audience of higher intellectual capacity and these folks are obviously way out of their depth when trying to appreciate anything clever and thoughtful. Just give them endless repeats of JarJar Binks and that should make the stupid trolls happy.

Oh no I don't bother reading reviews...I feel it tries to tell people what to watch or read rather than letting them decide for themselves....now to read a review AFTER my purchase, that's just plain curiousity.

We just need to leave better, more well thought reviews, that show Serenity appeals to educated, thinking people.

GO REVIEW, peeps! Let's show them some big damn heroics.

could Joss write down to this level?
could anybody?

This thread should come with a warning label; two, in point of fact. The first one would be: "Warning--Contents Funnier Than They Appear." The second: "SURGEON GENERAL'S WARNING: Prolonged Exposure to Stupidity May Reduce Mental Acuity, Slow Speech, and Cause Mental Retardation."

Seriously, I feel stupider just for having read tha review.

I bet if you dropped in on James at home you'd find him answering the door in a grease stained sleeveless t-shirt with a huge beergut sticking out and down over his belt while a rabid terrier or chihuahua is humping his leg which he doesn't even seem to notice. His beautiful 350lb wife dressed in a fashionable moth eaten pastel bathrobe and hair done up stylishly in brass colored curlers will probably semi-politely offer you a Miller Lite and some pork rinds for a snack. Hope you have a Merry Christmas, James. Hope the roof of the trailer doesn't leak over the holidays if you get any rain.

I did just that the other day actually. I went on there and put in my own review and gave it 5 stars. Not a bad idea if quite a few of us kept on doing that to add to the 400+ good reviews the movie has already.

I also checked the review that James did, and I clicked on "see my other reviews." Very interesting that he seems to not like anything really. He gave a bad review to Batman Begins!!!! Are you KIDDING me? That was the best Batman movie since the first one with Michael Keaton. And he hated Sin City, which although quite violent, was an excellent movie IMHO!

Interestingly enough, he DOES like exercise DVD's and a movie called Beautiful Boxer, which is based on the true story of a Thailand kickboxer that thought he was a female trapped in a man's body, so he had a little operation to fix that.
