Hey everyone...I decided to start a new Firefly/Serenity group on facebook if anyone's interested. No one really added yet, but go check it out if you want.

I can't remember or find who did the charcoal sketch of the Serenity logo, but thanks for it. Right now its the temporary group pic.

can you do nationwide groups on Facebook? I made a group titled "Firefly was the best gorram show in the 'verse!" a few weeks ago for North Dakota State University. We've got a handful of members, but a lot of people i know don't use facebook. I also have to send invitations to a few people. The people that are in the group are just ones that found the group by chance. I have to send invitations to the people that i've found that have Serenity listed as one of their favorite movies or Firefly listed as one of their favorite shows. I was suprised to find as many people with those as i did. Not by the fact that they liked it, but by the fact that they were fortunate enough to have heard of it.

It's kind of like myspace, but better in some aspects. Focused mainly around people in college. Its just for forming communities with people of like interests or schools.

http://www.facebook.com to check it out.

Yeah, Facebook is kind of like myspace or xanga. What i like though is that it doesn't have so much crap and there is no blogging. I don't mind blogging, but myspace and places like that are so invested with mindless crap. Facebook allows you to tell about yourself. stuff like who you are, where you live, your interests, what classes you are taking at the school, etc. You can than have a list of friends on facebook and you can also have a list of people you have classes with and stuff like that. It's kind of a grouping thing. You can see if you have common friends with someone that you didn't even realize. You can also form small groups or clubs to group by interests. Stuff like that. It's just interesting to see if there are other people on campus who share similarities with you. like i said, I have a Firefly group I started. It's just a little club to show that we are Browncoats and fans. Now that is displayed as one of the groups that we belong to in our "groups" section and it connects us. It's just kind of interesting and fun to play around with. Nothing to serious.

I didn't know you could do national facebook groups (can you?) I started one at my school (UNC Wilmington) simply called 'Browncoats - Wilmington Chapter'. So far we've got 7 members. The group picture is that drawing of Mal with the caption "Join the Independents, Become a Browncoat" or something like that.

It's shiny.

We've got two groups here at the University of Maryland: Browncoats (58 members) and Firefly (25) .

No power in the 'verse can stop me!

Yeah, I planned on doing that for my school, but I wanted more people to join. The thing with my school is that it's apperantly not cool to like shows that are well written and are character driven simply because they are SciFi. I think you just have to go searching for groups on the 'global' search.

I too wasn't aware you could do a national group, but if you can, I'm there.

My school's far too large to have any sort of unified custom on what's cool or not cool to like. There is a Firefly facebook group I belong to, but it's less than twenty people, so I'm betting the 'verse isn't spread too far around here. Yet.
