Have we all recovered from too much turkey and too much time spent with the relatives? I hope so!

Welcome along!

I had an entirely turkey-free holiday, actually!

Have the day off from work, only real chore on my list is to get the left rear tire on my wife's car looked at (it appears to have picked up a puncture or something). I'm spending the morning in my grubbies, sipping coffee all unshaven. I might take some time and work on my latest 3D modeling project.

How's everyone doing in Random-land?

Mmmm....turkey. Unfortunately, since we didn't host for thanksgiving, there's no turkey for me (didn't even get any on Christmas!). I second the sipping coffee unshaven thing. Ah, the simple pleasures...

We hosted Thanksgiving this year, so I bagged my quota of turkey until at least this time next year. We had an extended-family dinner out for Xmas night, the menu choices were beef or turkey, and I soooo picked the moo.

TURKEY SANDWICHES! Yum! Xie xie!

I had a turkey free christmas this year too. Lots of other meat, veg and soup though. Ice cream too! Love Viennetta! *Has a sudden craving for mint Viennetta, even though there's none left in the ruttin' freezer.*

Everything's good here thanks Spinland.

I was watching Ghostbusters II on E4 last night. Love that movie! Classic stuff! (It was either that or 'Minority Report' over on BBC1.) Decisions!

I could have sworn it was a digitally remastered version though. The special effects looked really polished and new.

Also, for UK Randomites, look out for the new series of Battlestar Galactica starting on Jan 10, on Sky One!

*wanders in*

have things resumed to normal randomness

yes

good stuff.

can you believe im cooking a turkey on friday, i kid you not, its taking up far too much space in my freezer so it must be cooked and consumed.

I have peoples over on saturday for the evening so its all good.

Santa was good to me this year, im very pleased with my pressies.

what else, oh yes, was an odd xmas, with nanna being in hospital, the house was just missing someone and of course we were popping in and out to see her all day, so wasnt really relaxed, plus grandad is like a dog with 2 tails without nanna so very hard to stay calm with him around. Nanna is slowly improving, although she is still on 9 litres of oxygen 24 hours a day, and will most likely have to come home with it, and have physio, myself and my mum are going to take up the roles of carers for both nanna and grandad. which will mean compromises from both of us. we sat and talked deeply yesterday, and I will be wheels (inc shopping etc), physio and oxygen gal (cause i already know how to do that) and mum will be cleaner, food and bathing laydee. We have both agreed that we will honor commitments next year, so for her thats her 2 week holiday, and a few other bits, for me its my 2 cons and my holiday, and Green Day if they announce. Oh and ummm my ummm takethatconcert.... After that we have to make serious discussions over things because its going to mean getting an outside carer in for those times.

oooh sorry i waffled a bit there didnt i, just thought id let you guys know whats what and why ive been so very tense of late and snappy.

Have to say mucho huge thanks to Stuart for being the one person ive run too whenever things are too much, he just lets me waffle on like a loon.

ok where was I, xmas

i got green day stuffs

yes i did, hmmmmm billie joe

OOH and I have a new love, David Tennant, loovely

oh and yes, I will be at cubed, for the full 3 nights, and yes the noob needs initiateing

He was born and grew up in Bathgate. It's roughly 5 miles away from where I live. True!

Had a really good Christmas. Parents hosted so there's still a goodly proportion of turkey around, plus my mother makes excellent soups from the remains of the bird.

Hello lovely randomites! How I've missed you these last few days!

No turkey for me, thanks. But I'll eat the leftover green bean casserole and all the pie. Mmmmm.

Oh, my big gift this year? Well, I got my BDDVD, thank goodness!! And, the thing I most wanted, a digital camera. I got the very exact one I wanted, which made me extremely happy and now I've gone camera crazy, taking pictures of everything and then deleting the crappy ones. It's great.

Anyone got any ideas of where to go for a free online photo album? I refuse to pay for it and I want somewhere to stick all my loverly pictures once I figure out how to get them OFF my camera.

BOO to you all! thought you'd gotten rid of me didnt ya!

Well i am here in Portugal. It's all mighty fun let me tell you. The house is all ship shape... almost. A large portion is half completed, in the sense it's habitable, but... half done. Which is an odd thing to say but its the truth. Right now, all of us four family members are sleeping in one room, on our matteresses.. in the guest apartment block of the house instead of our rooms.

Thankfully we do have running hot water in the main house... electricity, and hrm,, gas...! so woop! bit hectic, less of a holiday than doing plenty of stuff, but hey ho what i signed up for.

So what i meant to say to yall is hope you all had a merry xmas and have a great new year. i'm missing you all muchly, carol sorry to hear about yer nan, u know where i am if you ever need an ear! never can have too few ears ;)

I'm loving my new toy, citizen, yepyep! I've started reading about geocaching, too, which methinks we'll start to do together when the weather warms up this Spring.

I'm building a 3D model of a spaceship called Kinunir, from an old 1980s role-playing game called Traveller. In many ways it reflects the 'verse depicted in Firefly and I'm not the only person from that gaming era who's noticed the similarities. The ship is full of sleek aerodynamic lines and I'm having to use SubD to get the shapes to flow right. It's quite the fun little project to get me back into Lightwave, which I've neglected badly for several months.

Glad your nana is doing better, Carola, and Happy New Year to Randomites all over!

Shiny! You've worked past that pesky writer's block, eh?

Normally I adore quiet, but when at work I at least prefer having productive things to do. Reading technical manuals without even a copy of the associated software to practice on is such drudgery. I don't think the program manager expected I'd be done with my portion of the existing project so soon, and there's not a jot I can do to help the guy who's finishing up his own part of it, or I would. It'll all be set right when the manager gets back from vacation on Tuesday; in the meantime I'll just mope and whine.

Yeah, I had some ideas, specifically the one presented in that chapter: how to find one spaceship out of the thousands in the 'verse. I quite like the one I came up with

Once I have some more ideas for how to proceed (I have a scheme, but nothing concrete yet) I shall post chapter one in the Blue Sun Room, then add more as the writing of other chapters progresses. That way, I keep ahead of the game, as it were.

Ack. Long trips with lots of airport waiting time. Not my idea of fun.

Good luck and safe journey!

But on the positive; 6 hrs to hang out in Tokyo!

I've been to Hawaii several times, but I've NEVER left the airport. Sad. I have memories of the airport at Honolulu, though. It's very pretty. Lots of plants and open spaces.

Or it was 25 years ago.

Man, I feel old.

Fly safe, NOS!

ooh, if you do, you must post the pics so we can see them! I've never been to Japan. When we traveled to Guam, it was just the CA to Hawaii to Guam route. Never went the other way.
