Firefly to me is the greatest series ever. Story, cinematography, special effects aside ...the thing that really tears at the heart strings are the characters. They are such a perfect blend of so many factors it becomes such an addictive series to watch. Perfect casting. PERFECT and Joss's ability to create so much life and vibrance and energy and LIGHT from this crew leaves me wanting more.

The cancellation of the series was the greatest travesty the world has ever witnessed.

I know you guys don't care but i've been having so many dreams about the series recently i felt the need to make some kind of positive contribution on the cortex.

To the tv executives who cancelled this show, may god have mercy on your souls.

that is the whole thing. It was a great series. The characters were so great and intriguing. I've never seen a show with such a great assortment of characters, and played so greatly by the actors. You really feel for the characters and they take on a life of their own. It hurts to think that Firefly was never given a chance. I mean, you can't honestly say that what Fox gave it was a chance. Airing the pilot last and the other episodes out of order? I'm amazed that it got as many fans as it did that way. It really does seem unfair. I have yet to show the series to someone and not had them like it or completely fall in love with it. That is what makes it even harder. It was good, we know this. It just wasn't given a fair chance to blossom. I can't imagine what it feels like for Joss and the cast and crew. They know what they have is a gem. A one of a kind unique show. To know this and not be able to share it and tell the story. It's crushing to the fans, but it's gotta be even harder on them. It just seems unfair at times, but that is the harsh reality of life. What makes it even harder is that us fans refuse to let go. We want more, and I feel that we will get it. But the wait is hard, and at times, you almost wish you would have never known this 'verse at all, because it is so hard. But then you think about it and realize it is better to have loved and lost, then to have never have loved at all. We are part of something special, and we gladly welcome everyone else to be a part of it.

As a Browncoat one must always maintain hope. However Browncoats need to remember that while the series cancellation was probably the single worst thing to happen to civilization since Christ was crucified, Christ rose again and so will Firefly. As a Browncoat one must resign themselves to being a "tasteful, discerning island of intelligence in a sea of stupid mediocrity". Enough patience and perserverance and the Earth-that-is-too-stupid will undergo a "sea change" and the masses will finally appreciate and embrace Firefly. Of course they'll still be too stupid to pick up all the subtle jokes but they'll laugh when the brighter folks do just so they look like they "get it" instead of looking as stupid as they are.

After watching Serenity and Firefly multiple times over the last few weeks, last night we decided to watch Star Wars-Revenge of the Sith. Needless to say, it was a total disappointment. Filling the fantasy world with real, believable characters makes all the difference, something George Lucas (and many other famous director/writers) could learn a thing or two from Joss.

My $0.02. Keep or discard.

"The cancellation of the series was the greatest travesty the world has ever witnessed."

First, I'm a huge fan. I chose to end 2005 and begin 2006 watching Firefly. I am now on the way through watching the series for the 5th or 6th time. I will TIVO the show every time it comes one because I know it adds to the ratings even though I own the DVD. As soon as I can afford to do so, I will buy another copy of the Firefly set to loan out.

However, the above statement was borderline stupid, no offense intended. If you change it to "the greatest travesty in TV history" you can make the argument, but not in the history of the world.

Before I even read the second post there is something you need to understand.

We do care.

We care about every new fan, every old fan, every medium fan, and any other fan that somehow doesn't fall into one of those categories. We care about how it made you feel, we care about what you think about.

We care.

So when you said, "I know you guys probably don't care," you were wrong, you don't know. Or Rather you didn't, you do now. Whenever you want to say something just come here and we say it because we care about what and how you think and feel.

You're one of us.

I totally agree with CTC here; we're all in it (Browncoat-ness )together.
Heck, if we didn't care, we'd have just voted for Unification

Here I am following the two Chris's (?) and saying... folks do care here. I am not new anymore, been here for a spell and everyone is welcoming and kind and they really do care and listen to what you have to say.

It's like home... but better.

I feel free here, I hope you will too.

I have to say (as a relative late-comer), that I too have found myself strangely addicted to this show and movie. (Joss must have included subliminal messages which effect weak-minded folks like myself)

After seeing the film (because I saw the trailer, and the trailer interested me), I started watching reruns of the show on Sci-Fi, and then running out to buy the DVD on the second day (guess I'm not a true Browncoat, waiting for the second day).

Then, I watched the DVD five times in 3 days, and got my nephew to watch it, as well.

I've never watched any movie 5 times in 3 days. Even when "Star Wars" came out in 1977, I saw it twice in one day, but that was it.

I can't explain what it is about this show/movie. Obviously, the characters are interesting and well-written. And sure, I can mention things I don't like about it, but the things I don't like about it, obviously are not the things which keep me coming back.

As I've stated elsewhere in these forums, I think the acting has a lot to do with it. The actors obviously love their work, and it shows. They've made their characters 3-dimensional, and we actually care about them. When you get an audience to care about your characters, you've hoooked them.

Well, I've said enough for now.

Joss really should stop with the subliminal messages.

But why?!?!

I can't explain it, and I wish I could.

Maybe, they should require a prescription before people could watch the show. It needs to be taken in moderation, or you become addicted.

And without new episodes/movies, the withdrawal isn't pleasant.

that's the thing. i feel very ackward about my addition to the Firefly 'verse. I've never been obsessed with a show or anything like this. When I get down about the show being cancelled, i'm just like, "Good God man. It's a TV show. Get over it. Look at yourself." it just makes you feel so silly, but you can't get over it. it's love. and i find it odd that i love a TV show so much. out of all things, a TV show. but then again, us Browncoats know that it's more then just a show.

WHITEFALL

agreed with above poster. It's the bestest show... ya know, sometimes i wonder, is it really that good, or have i just forgetten what the show is like and gotten hooked on being hooked?

then i go back and watch the show again, and... it is that good. It's love, pure and simple. Now, I'm sorta a young guy, and as odd as it may sound, Firefly was/is my first love, and I see nothing wrong with that. Maybe I'm doing that whole 'in love with love' thing but.... nah. Just gorram shiny TV.

I survived a day in Whitefall and all I got was this lousy signature!
