Hello, I'm also a new browncoat! :)
I haven't finished all of the discs in the Firefly box set yet - I'm saving them and watching each one at least twice because I don't want the episodes to ever end

My Serenity DVD is on order and I am getting the soundtracks for my birthday in a week.

I just wanted to say Hi and I'm so glad I discovered the joy that is Firefly.
It took me the pilot to get hooked, at first I fell in love with the cast (Especially Kaylee - But that is another tale )
The diologue is superb and so very funny and after a couple of episodes I came to love everything about the show - The music, the verse, everything!
The show has so much charm...Yes that's exactly the right word... Charm!

I am working on turning as many people into browncoats as possible so we can raise as much cash as possible to get Fox to backtrack on their utterly stupid descison
My Landlord/Flatmate already enjoys the show and my girlfriend is slowly coming round to it.
Today I am working on a workmate as I bought the boxset in to watch an episode with him at lunch today.

So who knows maybe a new browncoat... Shiny

Anyway, enough gassing.. Keep up the good work all and enjoy the show/Movie!

Welcome Kibbster!
I've been pimping this thread (full of useful information):
http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=2&t=15816

and good luck in the worthwhile ambition of making new Firefly/Serenity fans! I'm made many converts my own self...and I recently found that I had a success where I thought I had had failure:
I bought my cousin & his bride the 'Firefly' DVDs as a wedding gift...
(I didn't think they needed a toaster)
and he loved them, but she was pretty indifferent...
BUT I just learned that she bought a set for her grown son for Christmas
(so obviously she wasn't completely indifferent)
and HE we totally crazy about them and went out and got the 'Serenity' DVD for himself.

just goes to show...

watch the R. Tam Session vids: http://www.hittarivertam.nu/
and buy the 'Serenity' comics published by Dark Horse

STDOUBT

Welcome to the 'verse, Kibbster.
I almost envy your not having seen all the eps!
I couldn't take it slow since I had to finish
watching the box set so I could go see the movie.
(missed the original airing too).

Watch out for all the spoilers on this board!
Most are flagged by the posters, but some are
still in plain sight.

BROWNCOAT1

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Welcome Kibbster! Glad to have you with us.

Good work on introducing the show to people. It sells itself for the most part, but it is up to us to get people to watch it & give it that chance.

Keep it up! Best of luck & see you around the board.

Thanks all for your kind welcome.
Yes stdoubt you are right about the spoilers, I accidently stumbled across the people that die in the movie....
Argh!

Nevermind, I'll try to wipe it from my mind before I watch it.

I decided to showcase Our Mrs. Reynolds to my workmate and he really enjoyed it, laughed at all the right bits and was sat foward in his chair for most of the episode.
I also got more out of it even though that was the 3rd time for me.
Every look and comment from crew seemed to sink deeper with each viewing - I think I'm starting to know these people

My housemate hasn't seen the ep yet so I guess 4th viewing tonight lol
I really don't mind, I'd watch it everyday just to see how awesome Nathan is when he's squirming - And Saffron makes me squirm too.... In a good way.

So I know how Mal feels

PSOLARIS

Welcome aboard Kibbster. You've found a great place to call home! We're all pretty laid back folk doing our best for the browncoat cause, and it's always nice to see more join the ranks. I have a feeling you'll like it here.
