Looks to me it is a Hind Gunship with some bits cut off and some bits added. Am I correct in saying this?

I had always thought it was a prop from another show, no idea what it actually was. Gunship makes a lot of sense, though. I'd just like to know where's the kick-awesome junkyard where they got that thing.

Yeh thought it was a Hind. I wonder where the SFX team got that from. Those are gunships only used by Baltic states, Russia, Afhganastan etc. They must have scoured alot aircraft graveyards to find that.

Either that, or they found a prop from Red Dawn or Rambo III from the 1980s!!

A long long time ago, there was someone who found the actual prop and took a ton of pictures of if.

I think it was actually a scaled down version of a helicopter, not made from one directly.

According to a more recent post in this guy's blog, he tried buying it but the owner had a higher offer from another potential buyer.

Oh excellant! Thanks for the link Gator. So they actually built it from scratch and modeled it on the Hind and then scaled it down. I like Akin's clone shot of Wash finding the ambulance. Great stuff :D I wonder how much it sold for???

Not sure... I just remember at one time someone compared photos of the ambulance to photos of the helicopter and there were differences, including scale.
