I just accepted their offer. And quite a nice offer it is.

So I guess y'all can count me back in the ranks of the employed.

Woot, finally the Library opens up, so i can stop the shakes from not having internet for so long.

Why didn't any of you British warn me it was so darned cold! I thought i'd be able to do like i did back home and just wear a sweatshirt outside. Maybe the 80 degree Guam weather spoiled me. I also heard i missed snow by like a day, very disappointed, i was so looking forward to snow.

Glad y'all had a good new years! I spent mine on a plane, but its not like i woulda done something anyways, lol.

CMS- You are so very welcome!

Happy New Year everyone, i'm off to cook some dinna (yay for having stoves) and get to bed early, all this cold is making my nose runny :-(

ok chaps or mainly barb and CMS

this is how things are atm

Keely is not coming to serenity cubed, but she said we can still use her card to book tickets, however I was talking to Sam earlier and she said she need to check if she can get that weekend off, If she can then we can book on her card to save any trouble, but if she cant get the weekend off, im going to have to consider not going at all. Ive never done a con without at least one of them, im not sure if its possible.

So I guess we just sit tight

Well, started to smell gas around my car, then someone stopped to tell me they saw a gas leak as they were following me. On the way to the mechanic's this morning it sputtered and died, Out of Gas. Grr. Arrgh. It ought to have had 1/4 a tank. Luckily I have free towing under my AAA plan.

Methinks this is the final straw for this car. It's a 1994, I think it's more than time to retire it in favor of a new one. Hopefully the mechanic can repair it to drivable-enough-to-get-home status, then I plan to donate it to some local charity that will take old junkers.

Now to contemplate what new one to get. I'm seriously thinking of a 2005 Prius. There's a nearby dealer with three of those still in stock. We'll be talking with the credit union Saturday morning to get pre-approved for a loan, then I can dicker with the dealer on a cash basis and de-fang all of their nasty financing tricks.

Good for you! Get a hybrid. I'd get one if I could afford it. As it is, I get really great gas mileage with my Saturn, so I can't complain.

SP-YOU HAVE TO GO. End of story. If I'm going to fly a bazillion miles and spend all that money to go to S3, you are gorram coming if I have to drag you there kicking and screaming (I may be little, but I'm scrappy.)

I know it won't be the same if Sam & Keely don't come, but we'll have fun regardless. There'll be loads of other people to hang out with and don't forget-Sean will be there!

Hi hunny!

ummmm, i'm not going to Serenity 3
*ducks from expletives and anything thrown*

I just seriously cannot afford it, i did far too much last year and already have too much going on this year... it greives me to only go to one con this year but unfortunately i have to be sensible...

I suppose you've already sent your cheque off...what would you like me to do with it?? (polite suggestions only).

oh peoples my peoples

how do I say this

After much thought and discussion, Keely, Sam & myself have decided to bow out of cons, they way we came in to them, and the way we were brought together. At an Angel con, with Christian Kane & the scooby gang.

That Angel con is in May, and will be our last.

So we wont be going to Serenity Cubed, we are so sorry to let you down. its oddly painful, but a choice we have to stick to now.

I'm pleased to report the car's ailment was no worse than a leaky fuel line, now replaced. The old girl's again drivable, for all her days in my employ are now severely numbered. I'm glad I didn't have to sink a lot of money into this latest little incident.

Did I hear right? Is there a Serenity cubed? Where when how?

Wait, I'm confused. It says tickets go on sale Jan. 16, 2006, but it's on Sept. 22-24 2005? I'm sure they meant 2006, right? If so I might actually be able to go.

You need easy meals?

Well, spaghetti is easy, but it can get boring.

Let's see: cut up potatoes into big chunks, toss them in a bit of olive oil and garlic, throw them on a cookie sheet and bake them at 350 degrees until they're brown. Stir them occasinally so they cook evenly.

You can do the same with string beans or asparagus. They come out yummy that way. Just make sure to use the olive oil sparingly.

Put a chicken breast on a piece of aluminum foil, add a pat of butter and one bay leaf, wrap it up, throw it in the oven at 350 till it's cooked all the way through (40-50 minutes, I think). If you cook several this way, you can freeze them for later or cut them up and use it for chicken salad or cold sandwiches or something.

To steam veggies, all you need to do is chop them up, throw them in a pot with a little bit of water in the bottom, cover them and put it on med-low. Check occasionally to make sure the water doesn't completely evaporate and let them steam until they're nice and tender (you can stick a fork in them and they don't feel hard and crunchy). Takes maybe 10-15 minutes depending on the veggies. Broccoli cooks pretty quickly, cauliflower takes a bit longer.

Cook rice with veggie broth instead of water and it comes out tastier.

Also: my main staple is rice with black beans. Throw a little sour cream on top. It's very tasty and quick and good for you.
