OK...here's my story. Never saw Firefly on tv. I figured it was just junk like most tv. Then I rented the movie on DVD because it looked kind of cool. I watched it 3 times and LOVED it.

Then I went out and bought the Firefly boxed set and watched the whole thing within 24 hours. I loved it so much that I'm now surfing the web in search of more content.

So...after watching the movie again after seeing the tv shows, I realize that it is a totally different movie than the one I watched before knowing anything about the show.

Sheppard's and Wash's deaths were great from a movie perspective, but very alarming from a fan perspective.

So, to the guy who said the movie sucked...I think the movie stands on it own apart from the show. And that is very hard to do.

Welcome to the 'verse Tpeck! The BDM (Big Damn Movie) is hopefully going to create a bunch of new Browncoats such as yourself. If you're like the rest of us here, and I'm pretty new as well, you'll be so consumed with Firefly/Serenity that you'll start pushing your family and friends to watch and buy the series and the movie. Hey, the more people that know about the 'verse, the better!

sit down, pull up a chair and stay a while. It's always good to meet a new Browncoat!

Book: "quite specific. It is however somewhat fuzzier on the subject of kneecaps"

I got into the 'verse in a similar way you did, I saw the movie first in the theatre not on DVD though and proceeded to watch it 3 times on the big screen and then bought the DVD's and never looked back. I got one of my friends hooked on the TV show after I bought it and he also watched all the episodes in a 24 hour period. Myslef I still havent finished the series because I am cherising every new moment of Firefly I get and I want it to last as long as possible. But yeah the movie and the series rocks I'm hooked and I cant get enough of it.

Oh thank God in heaven. I was having a hard time convincing the other guy that made the "The Movie Sucked" thread that it was a completely different thing than Firefly and that it didn't suck. Thank you for realizing this. I wish I could give you a big kiss on the cheek , or maybe just a hug, or handshake. Maybe a nod of agreement...

Jayne: Are you saying River's a witch?
Wash: Yes, Jayne, she's a witch. She's had congress with the Beast.
Jayne: She's in Congress?
Wash: How did your brain even learn human speech? I'm just so curious!

Welcome my man. This is a great forum. I love the people here. Yeh Serenity is a good movie in the way it can appeal to none Firefly fans and Firefly fans. My friend watched Serenity, he's never seen Firefly and he asked the perfectly reasonable question 'How did Simon and River get on Serenity?'. So I give him a brief synopsis of the pilot and bought him Firefly for Xmas. He has not even watched it yet. It's still in the wrapping. He loves Sci-Fi like I do so I keep shouting at him 'Watch it!' LOL
