LADYSINGS

I apologize if this has already been posted here but it's the first I have heard of it.

Through Whedonesque, I found this DVD review that mentions an Easter egg: "Plus, for you hardcores, there is a rather pointless yet extremely entertaining Easter egg hidden on the disc (three words: Fruity. Oaty. Bar.)."

Has anyone found this and if so, could you tell me how to get to it?

*trying to determine how many credits would be sufficient payment for this information* lol

What is an ester egg? I'm sorry, I'm kind of new at this whole "find the special features on your DVD" thing.
Lemme know what it is and how to get to it. Are there any others, aside from this one.

Wacky fun!

Easter eggs are little hidden extras
(not all DVD sets have them),
on the 'Serenity' DVD there is only the one.
the path to find it is written out in one of the posts above...
and it is all about the making of the Fruity Oaty Bar commercial,
and getting to see the whole commercial that was made
(so funny)

Easter eggs are short, extra little video segments which can be found on a DVD, but don't appear anywhere on the menu list. Lord of the Rings DVD's have them, but I think only in the large box set.

As mentioned above, for the SERENITY easter egg, highlight the 'play' button, but don't press 'enter' Instead, press your pad button to the Left, which will highlight a centre capstone shaped thingy on the Right side of the screen. Then, press 'enter' or 'play', which ever. Enjoy.

Here's one site that list movies with easter eggs:

(although a TRUE e.egg hunter doesn't need a cheat sheet, now do we? )

Hey Mattie...an easter egg is a special feature on a DVD that you have to hunt for somehow (hence the term easter egg). Sometimes you'll see something in the movie itself that will clue you in to hit a button on your remote, and when you do it will bring up another scene or a bonus feature. Meet the Fockers had a few of them like that. If you watched for it, you would hit an arrow key when the "egg" appeared, and it would play for you a deleted scene, or an alternate scene.

In the case for Serenity, there is an easter egg on the menu screen. If you follow the instructions they specify above, you'll get the fruity oaty bar commercial in full.

Incidentally, I have a feeling that the deleted scene between Mal and Inara while on Miranda that everyone seems frothing at the mouth to see is on there and I keep my eyes open in the scene just before it to try to find the egg and select it to open that scene up. I just haven't found anything yet.

Psolaris,
When I'm trying to find an easter egg am I actually looking for an egg, or just some kind of indication that there's something more? I guess what I'm trying to ask is, what am I looking for when searching for an easter egg?
P.S. I'm putting this here because the other link is too long (the "Summer Glau" one). Fightin' words indeed. Did you read the post right after yours (someone takes this kind of talk WAAAY too seriously!)? Haha! Anyway, you go have fun with Sean and Summer and leave Nathan to me. Can I borrow some of that Mudders Milk? (Hehe, I'm such a nerd!)
For those of you just tuning in, go and check out the thread "Summer Glau".

Wacky fun!

Nah, it's not necessarily shaped like an egg. For example, with the easter egg that we've found in Serenity, you highlight PLAY MOVIE, but do NOT hit enter...hit your left arrow key. When you do that, there is something that highlights on the right side of your screen. When that is highlighted, you hit enter and the commercial ensues. That special feature is your "egg." It's something that's not necessarily part of the main menu, however you can highlight and select it. They're just called an easter egg because you have to hunt for them.

Hmmmm, don't rightly know if I can just leave Nathan for you now...since he's obviously head over heels for me...in my girly dreams, but who's keeping track. He brings me flowers, and writes me poetry, and sings to me, and tells me how beautiful I am...And don't no one wake me up neither!!!

Yup....any day now.....

yes, in the extras section highlight joss sings theme song, then goto left. some of the border should highlight, you get to see Adam B. sing his very favorite song. BTW easter eggs usually do not look like eggs, just highlight something that doesn't seem to go anywhere and youll get something. The x-men dvd if you highlight the rose you see something rather funny. and dodgeball, somewhere in the menus theres a prple cobra, click on it and Ben Stiller tells you how to activate the easter eggs in the movie.

Haha, thanks Psolaris for the tips. That made it really clear. Thanks for your great instructions.
It's so much fun reading your responses! Nathan...in your dreams...flowers, poetry, singing, you aren't a hopeless romantic, are you? We should probably start a new thread so that we don't confuse everyone else.
Whaddaya say? Start a little discussion on, haha, our BDH's?

Wacky fun!
