I was just wondering, do the sales of the Firefly DVD set goto just Fox or are there royalties shared together with the writer and producer?

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Not sure what the break down is, and I doubt we will ever know, but I am sure that everyone involved gets some sort of cut. I don't doubt that Fox gets more than they deserve, and more than anyone else when the profits are distributed.

STORYMARK

I don't know about the directors or lead actors involved, but typically, writers get very little if any money from DVD sales. The same is true for smaller (guest star) actors or extras.

This has been a big topic of debate lately in the Writer's Guild, as when the contracts with the studios were originally written, DVD didn't exist and therefore was not accounted for. Renegotiations since have changed the situation slightly, but writer's are still pretty much the bottom of the food chain in Hollywood.

I'm sure FOX takes most of it, but Joss is probably making some decent coin off of it, as the creator/executive producer (TV is called the producer's medium) along with writing and directing credits.

"Well, my days of not taking you seriously are certainly coming to a middle."
