'Summer!' joke in the outtakes?

After watching the Outtakes on the Serenity DVD, does anybody know the origins of the "SUMMER!!!" outtakes? Specifically, the one where Inarra forgets to "pray" for Mal and he goes, "What AREn'T you doing?"

MORENA: "Crap"

And then they both go, "SUMMER!!!!"

Anybody know the meaning behind this inside joke?

GAZERBEAM

The origins of this go back to the series. In the episode "Objects in Space", there was a long shot that involved the whole crew, ending with Summer, and several times, she screwed up her lines so that they had to redo the whole thing. Nathan took to ribbing her about it, yelling "Summer!" After every time she screwed up. One time, Nathan blew it right at the start, and yelled out "Summer!". And it kinda stuck for the movie, it seems.

Heh heh. After watching the bloopers, it's pretty obvious (despite Joss having said it millions of times) that he was the "class clown" of the show off (and ON!) camera.

Only do it when something goes wrong, especially if it isn't her fault (should be that way most of the time unless you know her), and you can use the cast as an excuse.
