Well, I just signed up here about five minutes ago. About two weeks ago I had never heard of Firefly. My friends had seen Serenity and said it was a good movie. I missed it in theaters so I waited for it to come out on DVD. I bought it the 27th of January and watched that night. I loved it. I learned about the series and I set out to buy it. Took me about a week. It was really hard to find. I know I could have gotten it online, but I wanted it NOW! So I finally found it and watched it in about three sittings. And now I'm totally addicted. I can't stop watching and getting depressed since there is no more. I found this place and I read some of posts and I was soo excited to see people who understood and felt the same a me. So I'm saying hi and popping in disc three to watch . I have to be quiet because my sister has started watching too and if she finds out I'm watching she'll probably rip my door down.

P.S. God I love Kaylee

Welcome here, we're weird.

If you want more get more people to watch and buy the DVDs.

-

Those are my standard comments to new people. More to the point this is really a great place and I'm sure you'll love it, don't worry about being new no one will hold it against you, we're just glad to have you.

If you have anything to say come out and say it, we love to hear what people think about the show, the movie, and more or less everything else.

For future pronouns, I'm male.

Oh I'm not worried about that, but going broke won't help us nearly as much as getting other people interested, don't forget to spread the word.

Hi all,

I'm new too - been lurking around and thought I would post.
I watched the show and loved it. I haven't had cable for much of the last three years, and so missed the period when Firefly went off the air. Was thrilled there was a movie, thought I would see what the chances for a sequel or new series were, and found you lot!
Just thought I would say boo and dip my toes in the proverbial bath water :)

Hey CookieJar. Nice to meet ya. Most of us here don't bite.....much.

Jayne: Are you saying River's a witch?
Wash: Yes, Jayne, she's a witch. She's had congress with the Beast.
Jayne: She's in Congress?
Wash: How did your brain even learn human speech? I'm just so curious!

Yes there is! I've been following it since 2002........

Firefly: a 12 step program for withdrawal

step 1: Admitted you were powerless over decisions made by Fox executives.

step 2: Came to believe that Joss could restore our faith in mass media. Or at least get a movie out to us. AND have a reeaalllly long gag reel on the Serenity DVD when it comes out.

step 3: Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of Joss as we understood him.

step 4: Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of the tv listings.

step 5: Admitted to God, ourselves and everyone on FFF.net the exact nature of Fox's wrongs.

step 6: Were entirely ready to have Joss remove the defects (if any) of the movie during editing and post production.

step 7: Humbly asked Joss to let Mal be nekkid at least once in the BDM.

step 8: Made a list of all persons who have not seen Firefly and became willing to tie them up if need be to..."introduce" them to the show.

step 9: Made direct converts of such people whenever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others. And maybe even then, if necessary.

step 10: Continued to do guerilla marketing techniques in Best Buy, Borders Books, Circuit City and assorted video rental outlets, and when the DVD was hidden away, promptly displayed it at eye level.

step 11: Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our freakish knowledge of every iota of each episode so as to win the Firefly trivia contests at each shindig.

step 12: Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry The Message (and all the other episodes) to others, and to practice these principles in all our affairs. While simultaneously attempting to actually live a life, work and pay bills when possible.

Mal-licious

I'm going to add cursing and the hurling about of things to my repertoire.

This is basically my story as well. I wonder how many people were so impressed by the quality of Serenity that they bought/rented the series and became huge fans? I know I did and I'm in the process of introducing the verse to friends and family. My sister-in-law, for example, is a huge Joss Whedon/Buffy fan but never gave Firefly a chance because she thought it was "just another Star Trek." I've remedied that incorrect notion.

This thing may snowball way past the Nielson and box office numbers as word of mouth and newly formed passions carry it to the next level. I never saw one minute of Firefly on TV and now I'm completely hooked.

Hey... I'm relatively new myself... I blindingly threw myself headfirst into the 'verse that is Firefly/Serenity when I requested to get the Firefly Complete series for Christmas. When asked what it was about I solely answered... "I guess they call it a Space Western"

Oddly enough... about six months ago. The biggest reason why I wanted to get a hold of the DVDs was that someone on the SWRPG boards at Wizards said that Evil characters are perfected by Joss especially in Firefly...

So one dreary afternoon I decide to put in the first disk... from the Pilot Episode... I was hooked... (It was weird seeing the guy from She Spies doing a asshole role... somehow though he pulled it off [probably due to Joss's Writing])

Within 72 hours... I had watched the whole... series...

SPACEFULLOFOBJECTS

I became a Firefly addict after watching 1 episode on Sci-Fi Channel.

I am absolutely astonished that they will continue to run new seasons of Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis and are not picking up a new season of Firefly.

This whole series Rocks. I bought the DVD set and have passed it along to several other people who would say "this show is awesome, how come I never heard about it before you?"

I really hope someone decides to try to repackage it and get it back up and running.

It's weird but when I watched Serenity and heard about Firefly, I knew it was a good show. The quality of the movie was so good that I had no doubt the show was great as well. I just wish I had known earlier. Because then I could have been telling poeple longer.
