Ok how about a discussion thread for a change

Ok so everyone made the tie between Shepard Book and "The Operative." They were of the same mold. Looking back over the series and movie, Book was obviously a high official in the Alliance familiar with the operative’s realm. Book and the Operative both had physical combat training. Book was more then familiar with the alliance would come after Mal.

Book obviously had his eyes opened at one point in his life which caused him to make a carrier change as did the Operative in the end.

So my conclusion is Book dies and the Operative no longer a use to the Alliance takes his place in the verse. I know you all are saying. Mal told him he was likely to kill him if he saw him again. But first Mal is forgiving and if he will still do business with someone who shot him once he will work with the operative. Also the Operative did call off the Alliance troops to spare them all. This would go along way with Mal in the end.

What do you all think?

I think its safe to say that *if* there ever is more serenity then the operative will be there.

The operative doesnt only just stay to the alliance. He believes in a better world.

The only problem with Mal ever working with the operative again is the fact that he (the operative) killed book...Thats not something you forget soon.

Book: Oh, dont get me wrong. I gave him a hell of a fight

I dont think he saw himself as a failure. Then he would have ordered the killing of Mal and co. He more likely changed his view, and understood why Mal thought people needed to know.
