New Browncoat from NYC

Howdy shiny people! I have finally found somewhere to share my new addiction/obsession with this 'verse! It all started after christmas with my Best Buy gift card in hand. I walked into Best Buy, looked around the DVD racks and saw the one remaining copy of this movie I remember seeing an ad for on T.V. called "Serenity". I thought to my self, "Hmmmmm, Isn't this the movie based on a cult series that was cancelled a couple of years ago and the fans brought it back? I think I'll pick it up."(that was paraphrased - I dont really think to myself like that - I think) I went home popped it in my player and sat down to watch. Got a little confused at first with knowing the characters and all but I liked it a whole lot. And by the way, in the middle of the movie I actually remembered watching like 2 minutes of one episode when it was first run on Fox. I think I was going out drinking so I shut it off and kind of forgot about it. After watching the movie I was intrigued by the concept but still not a browncoat. I did some looking online to see if Firefly was on DVD and it was. "I got some extra bucks on me - I think I'll pick it up - see what the hoopla is about". That was the thought that set things in motion. Next day - back to Best Buy - got the series and spent the next 3 nights up till 3 am watching 'em and nothing else! Each day I couldnt wait to get home from work to watch the episodes I havent seen yet. Now mind you I was a kid back in the day for the premiere of Star Wars in 1977. I kid you not - I had that same feeling I had walking out of the movie theater that day as a 6 year old in 1977 as I had when the final episode of Firefly ended on my DVD player 29 years later. TOTALLY BLOWN AWAY!!! Here was something I have been waiting for and never new was there. I watched the movie again and watching the series actually made the movie 10 times better the second time around. Now I am hopelessly hooked - I've watched the movie 3 more times since and am in the process of watching the series again. I got Serenity and the crew on my PC wallpaper and just ordered the Serenity visual companion from Amazon. Think I'll get a couple o shirts too.
I know this post was long (sorry 'bout that) but I just had to vent somewhere where people know where i'm coming from. I look forward to being here as this seems to be the most comprehensive site around and to talk to some fellow Browncoats. Believe me - I'm trying to make some more - spread the word!

Welcome here, we're weird.

Ok, so here's the deal, if you want more, and I'm pretty sure you do, you need to get other people interested to the point that they buy the DVDs and go out and get still more people interested to that point.

You don't need to do that here of course, except for letting new people know, here you can just share in the knowledge that there are other people as addicted to you and talk to us about whatever you like.

Firefly stuff of course, but there are also forums for other things too. We welcome you here with open apendages and hope you enjoy this place and these people as much as we do.

I as well just found my way to the verse this Christmas (read my spiral into addiction post..dont know how to insert link but its called "newbie in withdrawl..mourning" from a couple of days ago)

I have been babbling like an idiot to anyone who will listen in every bar and coffee shop in the city!

Welcome, SwampReaver! I'm just up the Acela line from you (Massachusetts).

My path was a bit different - I saw some of the shows on Fox, first-run (Fox! Fox! We curses it forever!) so I went through the long droughts (pre-DVD release, then pre-Serenity).

So don't fear that the 'verse is over, as many new Browncoats do. We've already done the impossible. We're mighty enough to do it again!
