(mis)quote from The Tick -

"I mean sanity's really somethin'of a one trick pony, What have you got? one trick - Saneness. But when you're good and crazy, whoo hooo!"

(for the correct version, watch the Tick, or read that Jayne Espenson essay book.)

As for the corsets, they are going to cost more than that, thats just the stays, sans handling and shipping, but hopefully not much more. Blue with a white trim? goddit, i'll send you a list of the measurements I need, and you'll have to get one of your crazy mates to take them for you (or maybe LMD is willing to drive up and do it)

It won't be perfectly fitted to you, but hopefully it'll be a good fit, the beauty of this style is the separate stomacher, meaning you can tighten and loosen with out that god awful bulge thing happening (which would even happen to Paris Hilton - if someone could convince her that it wouldn't be, like, wearing too much fabric.)

Hmm, i'm going to have to dig up my pattern paper, lets see, where did it put it...

oh, yeah, not sure if I mentioned what it was actually, ha ha, er, its in the wardrobe department of a tv show, not one that you will have heard of.

Seryn-Still quite reasonable, I think. I was thinking I'd be paying quite a bit more for one anyway. Hand-made clothes are expensive, but well worth it IMHO.

I can sew and I've made quite a few things for myself in the past. My favourite was this long black crepe dress I made for concerts and recitals back in my musical days. It was based on a costume pattern for a french medieval dress. Long sleeved, scoop neckline, full skirt. It just fell so nicely. I cut off the train and made the skirt not quite so full. And I added a nice black trim to the edge of the sleeves and neck. It was lovely. I got so many compliments on that dress.

Oooh-costume department for a TV station? That sounds like an AWESOME job to have. When do you find out if you get it?

JH- I dunno. Do you charge by the hour?

not necesarily what i meant JH, just that it wasn't quite that simple.
But yeah, some indication of your rates would be a good idea

Yeah, it will be an awsome job, I'll learn soooo much. It seemed so cool, he kept detailing all the work seeing if i'd get scared but I think I just got more and more manically excited (still not sure if that was a good or bad thing)
It would only be for ten months, then i'd have to start looking around for another (hmmmm, methinks joss would be getting a fair few emails, pleeeese give me a job, look, i'm qualified, I have some experience, you don't even need to pay me that much! as long as you'll let me sleep in a storecupboard or something somewhere.
If farscape was still going i'd be in australia already, jumper for a creature with two heads? I'm there.. likewise with Firefly - a smart sexy top for zoe one day, a bizarre eastern inspired hobo's outfit, or a peice o frothy pink kookiness the next? heaven)
but this is just fab, learning to work in the tv style, with the wacky schedules and the vagaries of shooting and the overdressed extras and the fact that occaisionally they dress up as chairs....

anyhoo, I find out friday (ish)

How do you know I won't of heard of it?

hmm, Farscape, you've just reminded me I'm supposed to be buyin' them thar DVDs. I bought the first season, which promptly had half the wrong discs, and a few that didn't work, and then they brought out a box set of all four seasons for about £20 more than one season boxset...

So they got sent back...

Damn. Hyperdrive, that new comedy is premiring on BBC2 and the lost finale is on 4. Why can't they put things on at different times?

Hollyoaks! No way wow!

And hyperdrives probably actually finished now *checks*, yep.

I've taped it and watching Lost.

Really with you on the exercise thing. Since I gave up Martial Arts I've gone from a healthy 12 Stone to a ridiculously lardy 16 Stone...

For our Americans there's 14 pounds to the stone...

My name is Earl started last week didn't it? Either way I missing it this week to. BSG I've got little or no chance of watching because it's on Sky, and the cable is tied up watching Coronation street all the bloody time .

yep, i'm pissed off, i couldn't find any info from a website or anything for it, tv and sattelite online came up but didn't actually say anything about it, then on a spaced site it said eleven o'clock, so i rushed down and guess what, it wasn't on at eleven.

poot.

Yeah Hollyoaks, and quite possibly the spin off and Grange Hill, seein as it's the same people.

Fingers crossed, I really need to watch it though, my Dad (who is a teacher and works with a lot of teenage girls who find it physically impossible to talk quietly) has been filling me in on some of the plot details, but I need to go do homework.

As for the exercise routine, I found a gym (kinda) near me that has trampolines!
real life ones, boing boing boing yey! It also does pilates classes, which is kind of what i was looking for, but that is too grown up and sensible compared to trampolning.
That class was always the only p.e class that I ever willingly went to, some of the others they almost had to get the tranq darts in to get me to come quietly, but trampolining i was always right there, even if we did only get two lousy minutes on the bloody things out of an entire hour.

Gyms with bouncy things! yey!

My Uncle owns a Gym so I really have no excuse in the world.

I hate Soaps. I mean I think they embody everything that is wrong with modern society... Yet i've actually started to watch Hollyoaks... It's all because it's on after the Simpsons, and I'm ussually working on things when it comes on...

and it's so I don't miss the news that comes on after it, obviously...

Back at school I used to hate PE, then I liked it, it was weird.

I even went on to actually pay for that sort of thing when I went to Uni... I joined the Rugby team.

Sorry, I think I got lost.
There was talk of two lovlies in bodices and my brain stopped working. Offer still stands for dinner at Dragon*Con. I think I already owe Serenity her first Orange Julius brain freezee of the con. Rates? I have rates? Oh yes rates, what do I charge per hour?...... Let's see...Well, I think the rate varies, it's inversely proportional to the level of fun I'm having. So the more fun I'm having the less I cost. In fact it's not too hard to make me free.

Don't mean to be excludin' people. That'd be rude. But the offer was for my two favourite Piratess Capt'ns.
As for Booking, I'm considering getting to that soon my self. I had considered trying to get all the coats on a same floor or two together, but Ash mentioned in another thread or chat that she already got resevations in one of the towers. It's still right in the middle of everything, but just enough away that the crowds noise don't bother and the towers have seperate elevators (lifts to some) which means you wait for an elevator with 20-30 people instead of 60-70. Browncoats tend to be polite even when partying. So I imagine there could be Shindigs without bothering those that choose the tower for quite.

And I'm going to need roomies for D*C. I plan to cram as many people in a room as possible. And I'm sure there won't be that much sleeping on my part anyway.

I wish I had trampolines. Or could afford a gym (they're terribly expensive here.) I did go to this class where you bounce on half a exercise ball. It's weird. And hard, but a great exercise. I kept falling off, which made me laugh which did not help with the balancing at all.

And we never did trampolines in school. Stupid american crap education system!

I tried to take advantage, I really did.

But it's hard to learn when your classroom floods when it rains or when the kid next to you won't stop "moo"ing at you because you're the only vegetarian in the ENTIRE state (it felt like), or when there are gang fights in the hallways and the police patrol and occasionally you're in the wrong place at the wrong time and get splattered with blood or when you're threatened with sharp objects and have to report the person to the principal and spend the rest of the day in the office telling your story over and over.

Though I have fun stories. Like the time I got fed up of being teased by some snot girl and PUNCHED her. She left me alone after that. Or the time I got fed up with some guy for teasing me and threw chocolate milk on him (it was in my hand. I warned him to leave me alone) RIGHT after he put his new leather jacket on and the principal tried to suspend me and my dad wouldn't let him and refused to pay the dry cleaning bill on account of it was the guy's fault for provoking me by insulting my mother(also known as "Only Time My Dad's Stood Up For Me EVER.")

Sorry. Rambling.

Ahhhh!
See, you not taking advantage wasn't a problem, you were trying to. The ones around you who were fighting and "picking" on the differences in others, were not taking advantage and should have been removed. If Folk like that don't want to learn, fine, but they need to be prevented from getting in the way of those that do. Move them to a different class or school where they can learn the skills they will need, like how to say, "You want fries with that?"
I always thought that at the high school level, students needed to choose between moving forward with their education or going to other schools to learn skills they'd need to go to work.

That's pretty rough, my Rabbit had cancer when I was a kid, ended up we had to put him down. He was big bad as well, I mean he kicked the crap outta Cats. They did not mess with my lil' bunny I'm tellin' ya.
They'd come sniffin' around like he was a free meal, and then pow, he'd jump and spin in mid air, before landing and gettin' up in their face. I'm sure he used to say (in animal talk) "Want some, do you fur boy?".
Then a few years back our cat died of cancer two. Me and that Cat didn't really see eye to eye though, she could really hold a grudge you see.
When I was a baby, before I was born I kicked her right off my mothers lap, and she never really liked me after that.
At the moment though the worst thing I've got to deal with on the animal front is the big pile of poo my snakes left for me to clean up. He likes to keep me busy, doesn't like to think I'm just sitting down doing nothing.

Don't lose heart yet, you see the universe isn't digital, it's analoge, meaning things don't just suddenly get better or worse, it happens slowly and transitionally as the good/bad waveform moves between peaks and troughs. You're coming out of the bad trough of the waveform now, and soon you'll be out of the bad zone (over the crapola threshold) and into the good zone.

If none of that has helped in any way it's because I'm useless, and you hearby have permission to shout at me, under the "Shout at stupid idiots act, 1989".

Edit:
didn't not to did not, me make sentence good.

no that whole analogue, waveform/crapola thing really helped actually, cheers.

Poor boy was so ill, nothing like his normal self, so I kinda knew that it was going to happen. Hence the barely being able to stop myself from crying infront of a bloke thing. silly me.

worried about the little girl now, we don't know what to do with her, we need to either neuter her or get her another male companion, and really don't know what to do for the best, shes absolutely frantic, doesn't know where he's gone.

And every time I remember how I called him dumpling or tubsy I want to kick myself, I feel like such an unfeeling cow.

Orpheus,
Dragon*Con is Sept 1-4, which is Friday-Monday. It's my experience that if you can, it's good to get there Thursday night. Settle in and have a mini-shindig with the other early Browncoats. Thurs. night is also the best time to pick up your preordered pass, or purchase a pass if you've waited (earlier is Cheaper by the way, I think now they are like to be around $50, later and day of they are $85), It's good to be ready to go Friday morning even though not everything is set up and ready(better than standing in the pass line with the thousands who just showed). Monday is hit or miss, sometimes there's a few things you want to do and it's worth staying, also dealers will cut they're prices, they don't really want to load all that stuff back up.
I like to plan to arrive Thurs. and leave after everything is done on Mon. though last year I really wanted to stay Monday night and leave Tues. Depends on how much hotel you can afford(easier if you're sharing with a few), and transportation arrangements, I guess. Stay in a room with 5 people for 5 nights, you pay for 1 night. Not too bad. Get your pass early, cheap is good. Then the costs are Food/Beverage, Purchases, Autographs etc. Autographs (usually $20 per sig.)can hurt depending on how many you want, and who shows. I spent $200 on the BDHs last year.
If anyone is looking to confirm commitments to go and make room spliting plans at this early date, it's good to get that done.
I really don't mind Co-Ed room sharing.

I ran into Orpheus in chat, he's checking a few things. If we could get real commitments from enough folk to share a room without getting the room too crowded or 'causing us to go broke, from too few shares in the costs, then we can move forward. Ash Suggests the international tower(of the Hyatt), due to the elevator issue mentioned above. Kelly (KOL) was in chat too and mentioned possibly already having plans with CMS and Lissa, hopefully Seryn can join them. I don't want to cut anyone out, But if you and I commit, LMD, we can look to Orpheus, Dark Jester, and Cozen(considering he's bringing Lissa, I Think) to fill the room. Orpheus mentioned talking to a few other Browncoats he knows, so I'm not sure if he meant that he wanted to bring them in with us, or have a share with them instead. The folk that went with me in '04, seem to not commit to anything until last minute. I don't wanna wait.
Again, Not opposed to Co-ed, I just assume women folk might not be as comfortable with the idea. More than willing to be proved wrong.

Generally I have no problem with co-ed, (i've done halls of residence, It don't get no scarier than that)

We have more than five though (do they set room limits or do they get to the weekend and stop giving a damn?) But if theres odd numbers then i'm flexible. (hell, i'd sleep in a corridor, i'd just be glad to have got there)

Ordering my ticket soon, hoping that I can still find some way of ordering the plane tickets sooner rather than later, but hope hope hope!

i still need to explore some options, prices for passes go up after 15th of Feb. Hotel codes are not up on the dragon*con site so the hotel rates are stupid high with out those codes. I need to see if I can book with my hotel(there's one 1.2 blocks away) this early, and still get the lower rate if I quit. otherwise, better job may make the higher cost less of a bother.
Ohhh flexable too?
I think they've figured out that there's room sharing at this con.

Hmm, the only thing is is I'm not sure it's worth going to America for a few days, so I'd have to go for longer, which means lotsof planning which is somewhat beyond my capacity...

Course you're sharing with me Mai Mai!

So, that's you, me, KOL, lissa and Seryn would make a nice 5.

Seryn-it's not that I have anything against co-ed room sharing, it's just that it went REALLY bad for me last D*C. Someone want to tell the story for me? I'm tired of telling it.

Note to self: Buy D*C ticket before 15 Feb.

Hey, Seryn, you want me to buy your ticket, too, and we can take that out of the "Money I Owe You For Making My Shiny Corset" Fund?

Oh, and my brother's coming this year, too, so maybe we can squeeze him in a room. Plan for Ath!

yeah sure, that makes it easy. Thank you.

Also means that I don't have to worry about getting it this month and can order the stays n stuff in a wonderfully carefree manner.

Citizen, I was going to go for 5 days (going with jadehands suggestion arriving - thurs, going back tue) It is a short time for such a long journey, but i love travelling aswell (yes, even the stupid mucking about on the tube) so i'm counting it as seven (give or take several hours and timezones). I'd stay for longer but its hotel fees unfortunetly.

But, to be honest, theres going to be enough going on for a couple of weeks worth, so i'm just not worried. Come, please!

So when are these codes likely to appear? I take it with sharing we are designating one or two people to do all the booking and stuff? Well, just tell me when, were and how to send the money.

By the way, apologies to those people sitting there think 'for gods sake its only january!'

I'm just in full on organising mode, I'm in a happy place, please forgive me.

OO, do I want to hear the epic tale of Serenitys co-ed nightmare?

Is it like that time I was put in charge of the boys dressing room? *shudder*

oh god, I'm so sorry.

No, dressing rooms (as in backstage at a theatre)I expected to be reasoably sane respectable places. Needless to say that idea was quashed.

Lets just say I got over my issues with lads mags, nakedness and farting very quickly.
