Ok, how about this for random.

I was in work today, busy busy, hundreds of people.

And with no warning some one asks me 'do you have firefly models?

Well, five seconds of startled blinking later, it finally gets through to this girls brain that, no, she's not asking for a model of our beloved Serenity, but simply a toy version of an actual bug.

Well, no I says, but they do a fantastic hood ornament of a the ship version on so and so a website... *grin*

*blank stare*

Husband (who has obviously seen the show *mrff...hmmff, Ha ha*

So we then get into a conversation about seeing actual fireflys. I resist all impulses to direct them to the nearest space docks, instead giving them anecdotes about how the American versions arn't as shy. (I had two attempting to get jiggy on my writing paper once)

Random American Tourist - 'you know, you might have more luck calling them lightning bugs'

'lighting bugs?'

'you know, light...'

'oh! yes, ha ha'

*pause*

'Glow worms!'

Me - 'I know there is an english variety, you will get them, but you're gonna have to hang around in some wierd places.'

woman *watches Husband wander off still thinking up names for fireflys with Tourist guy* 'yeah, still at least I know some one whos seen them now'

'yup, pretty much more than I wanted to see'

*follows husband*

*Helens workmates stare at her*

*small child launches glass marble accross room*

Normality resumes to the sound of breaking glass.

Later I taught another workmate the fruity oaty bar song, after I couln't for the life of me think of ANY other words for 'cereal bar'

Then we invented a dance.

do I get my dork stripes now?
