What's the best scene in the movie?

I like it when River wakes up, and then it cuts to her waking up again. I thought it was cool because I used to have dreams, and I'd "wake up" into another dream.

Personally, I just loved the fight scene in the bar. Now I respect acting sequences, hell I am an actor myslef don't get me wrong I am not speaking out of a "little-kid-who-just-loves-action" I just love the style of fighting, The way she says "Miranda" and so on. Most of all I find myslef wishing I could one day work with Joss whedon so I could do a scene like that. Hope that answers you question

River - You belived her, made a face.

Without a doubt the pan out from the opening logo to Serenity making planetfall up til the primary buffer panel falls off the gorram ship! I'd never seen the show, so this was the first time I'd ever seen Serenity. I feel in love right then and there.

Speaking of the movie, seems Stephen King loved it! Just scroll all the way to the week of Oct. 10th. Stephen King is right up there with Joss in my eyes, so its nice to see one acknowledging the other's hard work. http://stephenking.com/stephens_picks.php

The bar fight is absolutely awesome, especially knowing Summer did most of her own stunts.

But it's gotta be the scene right after we first see the Operative, when we see Serenity for the first time. That whole scene there was just flat out everything I loved and still love about Firefly, and I know for a fact that it immediately got the friends I brought along (who had never seen an episode of Firefly and aren't even Sci Fi fans) into the movie big time.

I also absolutely, absolutely love that theme music, and my only regret is it's only about a minute long. I still get butterflies when that music hits watching Serenity.

my favorite scene is watching river fight the reavers. As a martial artist/actor i respect the grace and beauty in which Summer Glau, and her ballerina training shows, takes on the rough moves of the reavers.
My second favorite has to be the initial scene from the serenity logo to river "passing the scene" to Mal. it is two long continuous shots. amazing.
As an actor, i want little more than to work with Joss Whedon, as a writer, he sometimes makes me want to stop writing, knowing i can't write to his level.

Wash: Yeah, but psychic? That sounds like science fiction.
Zoë: You live on a spaceship, dear.
Wash: So?

My favorite scene was the one in which Jayne creeps through the jungle to spy on the girls as they are bathing in a waterfall pool!

Ummm... No, wait. That was my idea for an opening scene for the movie. This is the problem with fanfic.

Still, naked, moist BDHe's beats the hell out of Canadian guys being forced to fall on swords, when all they really wanna do is run away from the Big Bad. So, I think I'll keep my mind's eye version.

I've also got a scene in which Joss appears in a cameo as an Elvis Impersonator singing the Ballad of Serenity in my 'version' of the movie. Very funny. Both of those scenes are here in GenDis in the "Archives" section, if y'all wanna look 'em up. Try sometime around April of 2004.

As for the actual movie, I'd say a combination of when the BDH's first see the recording on Miranda (notice the way their eyes follow the woman as she falls to the floor, meaning they can see the entire event as she is raped-eaten (eaten-raped?)), and then the follow-through on that scene when The Op is forced to watch that same recording. Mal has well and truly defeated him on every level.

Kudos to Chewitel for making that moment work so powerfully; not crying outright, but teared-up enough that it can be seen, without actually spilling a drop. That's some great physical acting, I kid you not. Likewise, the female actor who got raped-eaten-eventually-sewn-into-clothing did a fantastic job of selling her scene, wouldn't you agree?

Reminiscently,

zoid

P.S.
Mal outsmarted The Operative at every turn. The pulse beacon, the 7 navcomp signatures, running to Reaver space, returning from Reaver space with all the Reavers in tow, out-drew him in the gunfight, finally bested him physically (although only because he'd had that nerve cluster moved), and then didn't kill The Op, but forced him to watch the evil his 'perfect society' -- which The Op was willing to damn himself personally to achieve -- was capable of. Perfect. The movie may have had some moments that didn't work altogether well, and it may have left some things out that I'd prefer to have seen, but you can't say that the Mal vs. The Op plot line was anything less than satisfying, imo.

How many people here are actors!? So many people are saying that they are actors! I am also an actor, how many of us are there!?

and I would have to say the River/Reaver fight scene, and the opening serenity shot of the ship, both very beautiful scenes.

and the two long shots, that deserves to be mentioned aswell.

I loved the scene were Kaylee finds out that Simon has confessed to her a regret of never being together sexualy. Her emotion and response was priceless. "The hell with this I'm gonna live". Now Kaylee was ready to fight for her love. She took up arms for her man, now that is a real woman. A mechanic and a fighter what more could a man ask for.

I'd have to say it's a toss up between Mal defeating the Operative and making him watch the film of what happened on Miranda, and Mal telling his crew, "I aim to misbehave". Which should be a motto for us all.

Excellent! Talent knows talent....

Here we go...

Operative: Do you know what your sin is Mal?
Mal: Aw Hell, I am a fan of all seven. *punching, puncturing and such* Right now, I’m gonna have to go with Wraith.

Or

Jayne: 3 full mags and my swinging cod

The final scene with Mal and River on the bridge. That was the closest the movie got to the feel of the series. Excellent dialogue.

I've said it before, and it still holds:

"My turn."

It's the turning point of the movie, the payoff, the point where River becomes a truly whole person. It's shot and performed beautifully, with Simon's bubbly dying apology (or so it seems) as the sounds of battle fade away and the world goes dark. Then we have another moment of Riveresque helplesness. Then, as the emergency lights come on... everything changes forever.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I don't disagree on any particular point.
Me too. I had seen the whole series before I saw the movie and had been waiting for the movie since the show ended. It was incredible, after years of rumors, snippets of information, a couple of trailers, some tv spots and the occasional photo to finally see the ship on the big screen. Made me so happy.
When I first saw the movie, with no prior knowledge from the series, I thought Wash's whole "leaf on the wind" line/joke was my favorite. When he says it the second time, Mal asks him what he means with complete frustration. Then they fly through maelstrom. When i see the movie now, any scene with Jewel Staite in it is my favorite.
River vs. the Reavers, definitely.
After that, I would say the moment that Serenity emerges from the ion cloud with about 500 Reaver ships in tow. Check out the Operative's face!
The whole bit from the fixing of Serenity to the "What was that?"
My favourite stuff from all of Serenity/Firefly.
I have to say the best scene for me is when Mal and River converse on the bridge at the end of the movie. Its an attempt to fill the hole of Wash, but in a respectful manner.
The funniest part for me is when Wash wants Mal to start the story at the part where Jayne gets knocked out by a 90 pound girl.
