Here's a post from the creater of fireflyseason2.com. This still seems like kind of a stretch, but he sounds like he's making a serious effort, at least:

I quote myself from the other thread (I'm lazy this morning )

That guy: "We intend to license the Firefly Intellectual Property from Fox, produce the show on our dime, and sell to the highest bidder. [...] BTW, thanks to those special few for forcing me to expose some cards and possibly sacrifice some leverage."

What leverage? That guy has a an active fantasy.

Turns out to be nothing more than a bold idea at this stage. He paired up with the other guy from the recent failed money collection attempt. I don't trust either of them.

I like the way "theonetruebix" tries to force the truth out of him (them). He'll get to the bottom of this.

Yes, because what this world needs more of is people with passion having cold water poured on them.

Maybe it's those guys who pour cold water on us because they make us hope. Their "plan" (if cou can call it like that) is a pretty long shot.

Yes, because if something is unlikely to succeed, nobody should attempt it, lest he commit the forbidden sin of getting your hopes up.

In the way they do it - YES.

Check out the discussion at the other board, I am not the only one thinking this way. They are asking the right questions over there.

"In the way they do it - YES."

So I take it by this comment you have in your mind a better way to accomplish the same goal that you're currently pursuing.

I think it's wiser to wait a little longer for an official statement at this point before starting such experiments. There isn't much we can do ourselves besides pushing the DVD sales. This is the only thing that will work! There are some good ideas though: Sending the soldiers some copies for instance. That worked once and could work again. Things like that are doable (and have been done).

You don't really think we could actually "buy" the show, do you? There is this thing called "logic", comes in handy every now and then.

There is a difference between being skeptical of someone's chance of success, and attacking someone for having the audacity to make the attempt.

I'm not holding my breath that his effort will prove fruitful. But unlike you I'm glad he's trying. Logic tells me that the more people try to do something, the greater the chance it will be done, so I fail to see how people trying to undercut these efforts are helping the cause.

...and I fail to see how people blindly believe this without asking about the "how".

I suggest following that discussion (here is the link again): http://www.serenitymovie.org/browncoats/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1580

I've already read the thread. It doesn't affect my opinion on iota.

Who's "blindly believing" anything? Of course his efforts are a longshot at best, even he himself knows that. But he's trying to do something, and from what I can tell you aren't. So from where I sit the chances that something good will come from his efforts, no matter how small, are still greater than the chances it will come from you.

I'll buy the DVD. That is much, much better since it WILL make a difference. Money that is. Money going to Universal, directly increasing the chance of a sequel. It has been stated countless times that this is the most effective way to go right now.

Already done that.
Two R1 DVDs and pre-ordered a R2.
Also have Firefly boxset and will be buying another soon for friends birthday.

Doesn't hurt to try other things, just don't get too excited till we get the nod from the big man himself.
Till that point I will support any efforts made my fans to get the show back on air.
