Many threads have been kicking around the idea of relighting Firefly as a downloadable thing for computers and stuff. The first step would seem to be getting the first season downloadable, and it would also seem that the most popular thing to download TV shows on is an iPod.
Imagine, that gold nugget that is Firefly, traveling around in your pocket, and you run into someone who hasn't seen it. You could give your precious DVDs to him/her, but how cool would it be if you whipped out you iPod and showed it to them that way?! The publicity would be astounding!
Of course, how the heck would you get Firefly to Apple? I'm sure they would be interested; Apple has a habit of picking up on good ideas, except that one big time...yeah...let's not talk about that mistake.

What do you think? A massive eMail campain? Suggesting it to Joss? Your thoughts please.

No, I am not insane, I am crazy. Thank you for asking.

I think it's a great idea. I already have Serenity on my iPod and the other day I was out galavanting with a friend and we wound up sitting in my car and i just pulled it out and started playing it. I have a tape adapter so it was surround sound. She thought it was pretty awesome, but we didn't have time to watch more than the first few minutes. Still and awesome idea. I'm trying to get Firefly on there too, but it's taking a lot of time.

Of course it would be wonderful to have LEGAL copies on there. lol. I'm always glad to fork out the cash to support the cause.

I've been harrassing itunes for about a month now concerning its slow access to video content, and I've been especially on their case concerning Firefly.

They are so tired of getting emails from me, and I'm gettting tired of having to BEG them for shows and videos. The only thing they got right so far regarding television shows is Battlestar Galactica, which I totally love them for, but everything else...no.

I got tired of waiting for them to get Firefly so I could put it on my video ipod, so I went out and found a program that will convert your Firefly DVDs into the ipod format, which I did already and all Firefly episodes are already on my ipod.

So here is the URL to the site. It cost around 30, North America, Earth Dollars, but its well worth it. BTW, so far I've converted over 45 movies.

URL: http://www.pqdvd.com/

P.S.

My 60 gig ipod has ALL the current Battlestar Galactica episodes (Miniseries + Season 1 and Season 2) plus the Original Battlestar Galactica movie. I have all the Star Wars movies. I have 12 Star Trek Next generation episodes. I have 26 episodes of Adam 12, 24 episodes of Alfred Hitchcock, 16 episodes of Dragnet. I have Serenity, I have 7 episodes of Sliders, I also just added two episodes of the Original series of Star Trek. I still have 15 gigs left and I plan to fill it up even more.

I hope this helps

River

Way to go frankie! I didn't think I was the first to think up this idea, but you're right, a legaly downloadable version direct from iTunes would probably be the best way to generate attention from many people.

People seeing Firefly right next to the other few shows on iTunes, like Lost, Conan O'Brien, and Monk, will automaticly assume that Firefly is as good as said shows. They'll think "Huh? Firefly? I remeber, it was that show that got canceled. What's it doing here? It must be good." THAT'S the kind of message we've been trying to send for years, and it seems like this is one of the best ways to send it!

No, I am not insane, I am crazy. Thank you for asking.

Wow, that was quick. Thanks River. Now I need to actually get an iPod. Wait, my mom has one. Problem solved!

How were you contacting Apple? eMail? They were responding? That's good. If we can get more people on their case they just might see the wisdom in our words. What's the eMail River?

No, I am not insane, I am crazy. Thank you for asking.

do they have UMD box sets? because they should, Serenity is on UMD anyway.

I don't have an iPod ar a PSP so it wouldnt benefit me so much, but it WOULD get the show out there, which is always good.
