RKLENSETH

I know people have been wondering why Firefly/Serenity has succeeded where most others have failed. Many canceled TV shows with longer seasons, larger fanbases, and more product have failed to do what has been done and is continuing with Firefly/Serenity. The 'verse as we know it should be dead. Serenity and pretty all the products from Firefly one shouldn't exist. The fans or Browncoats or Flans as we like to call ourselves should have given up a long tie ago.

But yet here we are. Bigger, stronger, and louder than we have ever been. As "Mal's Song" put it, we have been stabbed, shot, killed etc..., and yet we still stand taller than perhaps any fanbase that has come and gone before.

So what makes us, us Browncoats and Flans, different from all the rest?

I think it is, no matter how often we disagree on things, because we are a family. We've all been to Serenity and in a way it has changed us all.

Oh, and play Cantr II at www.cantr.net.

I know I am changed. Forever. You are right, it is exactly that we are a family. Serenity is home. It's as simple as that.

LOLA

there's a good bunch a folk here, who share a love.

it's a mutual understanding of someplace wonderful that we all got to occupy..that space of time together.

it gave us a picture of our longing for those friends and those loves.

of honor and heartbreak and faith and pure love

Once, one's found his or her (Serenity/Wa) ya can't leave. Its always there with you. We ain't dead yet. If we should fall, another will pick up the company's battle flag and continue the fight. Surren I ain't laid down my arms yet and if these here Alliance/Fox boys think I will then they better be prepared for right shiny little shindig.

MRBEN

Actually, I suspect that the longevity of Firefly/Serenity is mostly to do with the fact that Joss never gave up, and neither did the cast. Certainly the "militant" fanbase went a long way to pushing the whole thing forward, but without Joss's commitment to the show it would probably just have died.

WHITEFALL

Mrben is quite right I think, but that doesnt make our achievement in human relations less important, just less relevant.

I agree that without Joss & cast, Serenity and any future for Firefly would have/will die. But regardless, this bond, this fellowship that we of the boards, of the brown have with one another is something precious, something beautiful, something that will last eternally if we just stay true to it.

My 2 platinum.

I survived a day in Whitefall and all I got was this lousy signature!

I agree but I still cant figure out why....I mean...I have NEVER been like this about a show (or a band, or book or a movie....well I rarely miss a Yankee game but.......its not the same (Yankee haters keep it to yourselves please! I do not want to hear it!)) so my obsession is still confusing me. Its not at all in my nature to be on boards...but I HAVE to talk to other people (you guys) that understand and feel the same way I do about the 'verse. I seriously wake up every morning either singing the song or quoting lines from FF.

I did not know when I heard the words..."have no place that I can be...since I sound Serenity"......how true it would be.....

The show is fantastical,
The show is real.
I don't know how,
To describe how I feel.
Fox was so stupid,
To throw out this gem.
But it's almost better,
It's shouldn't belong to them.
Firefly is the best,
That we all understand.
That's why I'm glad,
That I am a fan.

No, I am not insane, I am crazy. Thank you for asking.

Hey, once you've been in Serenity, you never leave. You just learn to live there.

They can't throw us out if they try!

BROWNCOAT1

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

You are right on target Rklenseth.

Browncoats are a tight knit group. Sure we're diverse, have different beliefs, we argue from time to time, but in the end we are family. We put aside our differences for the love of Firefly & the desire to see it continue in some form or another.

Serenity is home, but so is this board & community.
