May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Heard about this through a friend:

Titan Lights Up 'Firefly'
Companion this Summer

January 24, 2006

Titan Books has announced that it has obtained the world rights for a companion book to Joss Whedon's Firefly TV series. Firefly: The Official Companion will be released this summer. There is a large and committed audience for this short-lived series; the Firefly series DVD has sold over 500,000 copies.

Titan has sold over 200,000 copies of Whedon-related titles, including the recently released Serenity Companion (see "Titan Finds 'Serenity'") to date.

I am so getting a bunch of these for gifts!

500,000- sounds like a lot. Out of interest does anyon know how many copies the Buffy and Angel DVDs sold?

Top news!

One question - will this guide be published in the UK as well, or will I have to Amazon it over, as I did with Finding Serenity?

Good work, Titan!

I'm sure it probably has sold over a million copies by now. Consider this; it was reported with preorders and the first month of sales when Firefly first came onto DVD that it sold over 100,000 copies. Since then Firefly has better sales period (including right now) and is one of the best selling DVDs of 2005 (even though it was released in 2003). I'm going to safely say that we probably broke the million mark a while ago.

As a matter of translation, what exactly is a "companion book" (in this case)?

Well, the Serenity Companion book included the entire screenplay for the movie and other articles, all of them which were written by Joss Whedon on the making of the movie and the a little bit about the world of FIrefly/Serenity.

I don't think they will be including the entire screenplays of every Firefly episode because that would be a huge book but will probably have excerpts on each episodes, random facts about the series, articles from cast and crew, perhaps articles from fans etc...

Not sure at this point. As you can see by the article, there is not a lot of info available at this point.

Is the Serenity Visual Companion available in the U.K.? If so, I would imagine this might be as well.
