Pretty soon CW should get a website up with an email address for comments and suggestions. Maybe we should impress them with how many INDIVIDUAL emails they recieve begging for a Firefly 2. Sure, no one important reads the emails, but there is someone with a clicker counting how many times he sees Firefly come up. Maybe we can turn a head or two?

FORGOTN

We should write up a psuedo form letter to be ready when we get there e-mail adrress. Get in there fast and heavy.

Form letters are great but im thinking something a little more individualized might be even more usefull. Here is my propasal, we put up an outline for a letter, a list of points to be made and powerfull phrases to use. We debate it untill we have a strong outline. Then we all write our own individualized letters, one or two lines per point, and then we have an army of personalized letters without all the hesitations and self doubting that goes into writing a heart felt plea. Plus since we are all making the same points over and over and over..ect again we have the advantage of repetion because of our shiny organizational skills.

Here are some basic points, because I can't really say all that then leave you guys hanging and expect to be taken seriously

"To Whom this may concern" - the most accepted way to open a business letter (theres a better way of saying that but i can't think of it at the moment)

We should open with something strong that tells the networks that we are an organized group of people who are all intrested in the same thing. Something like "The Browncoat community is a large group of fans that are loyal to Joss Wheadon and his creation Firefly."

A personal plea, using the words 'I' or 'me' will help personalize the letters and let them know we are not just copy/paste/spamming there network/ (which is a valuable tool but not what we are doing here.)

We just mention that we are very intrested in having our love be turned into a productive franchise and that we love to enjoy and collect anything firefly.

Reiterate that we are a diverse and very loyal set of fans.

Remeber to THANK the people who spent the time to read your email and the people who are considering reviving our dream

ZOEHASZEN

Over on the Fireflyfans.net Central board there's a thread on convincing the Sci-Fi channel to start up Firefly again, among other ideas. Shiney777 provided the following form letter:

"Okay,
Here is my version of a form letter. I'm not a writer, so don't laugh. Well, do what you will, it's not like I can hear you!
Doll it up all you want.

Browncoats Unite!

Dear Sci-Fi,

The loyal fans of the hit TV Series Firefly, and movie Serenity are in need of your help. As you know, the rights to our show are still owned by Fox. This is no type of home for a show with so many Sci-Fi fans.

Yours is the only venue today for quality Science Fiction, and Firefly is the epitome of a quality Sci-Fi show, dare I say, that it is exactly what Sci-Fi should be. Browncoats across the globe are uniting to re-light Firefly and find it a new, safe haven. The Sci-Fi network is the obvious choice.

We are hoping that you will see the potential, (and profit), in taking up Firefly for many more seasons. This show was never even given a chance to get an audience, and yet it now has a huge fan base; a fan base that now looks to you, to do the right thing. We implore you, give us back our sky, and make Firefly a part of your family, just as we have.

Help us Sci-Fi Network, you’re our only hope!

Sincerely,

The Loyal Fans of Firefly
(Individuals would sign here, and place any personal comments in this spot)."

BTW, is it possible to link threads somehow? It would be more effective if we were all on the same page with the re-lighting efforts.

In our letter we need a reason why CW should pick up the show and where in their target audience Firefly fits. Something along the lines of that they picked up Enterprise and Voyager and they both did decently well. Make a statement to tell them that Buffy was a cornerstone of the WB and UPN for years.

Another suggestion is to tell them that there's already an established fanbase. And since it's inception it easily quadrupled. Note to them the constant Top sales on Amazon.

The tone of the letter should be homely and not appear like you're selling them something though. Like tell them about Browncoat comradery. And invite them to become a Browncoat as well (Yes I know the irony of that).

Note: If someone can get a hold of the current tally of the Firefly Boxset and Serenity it'd be greatly appreciated. I'll try a source that I know.

Remember stations like numbers and if you pepper numbers in their face. If they're really large numbers they might actually pay attention.

Finally... an interesting option is to send giftbaskets of Serenity and Firefly goodies. Not just the DVDs but Figurines but the novelization as well as other companions.

I don't know about gift baskets and figurines. The last thing I think the letter should explain is all the reasons picking up the show would be a good idea. We have to rely on the assumption they're smart people and just need a little nudging (It's hard, yes, I know)

Zoehaszen implicitly brought up an interesting point. What if there was one letter and everybody signed it. My gut instinct tells me bad idea, but I have no reason why.

I was thinking something more along the lines of this:

Dear CW, (nice and personal)

I have been a loyal fan of Joss Whedon's Firefly community since (insert date). We call ourselves browncoats, those who can't just let Firefly die in the hands of Fox executives.

I appeal to you, because your network is in a unique opportunity, being brand new, to pick up an instant hit show.

(personal statements here)

Respectfully,
Tristen Hannah
Browncoat for life
