On the commentary for Shindig, the writer said she had actually come up with a set of rules for the game that Jayne, Simon and Book were playing in the dining room. I've looked online for it, but all I found was one site that had somewhat simple rules (forgot to bookmark it, even so) and a link to a hand drawn deck.

Does anybody here have the rules, or know where to find them? Or have any idea where to find a better looking deck?

I'm only asking because I'm planning on having a Firefly party next month and I think playing Top Card would be fun. Thanks for your help!

I, too, found this site regarding "Tall Card".
http://fireflywiki.org./Firefly/TallCard. Seems to be the information you are looking for, at least in regard to the rules, etc. Not the exact look of the cards in the episode, though. Hoping this is of help.

The commentary said that it was, but when you go to the site Rese and I just posted, it says there was only an excerpt from the script, and that Adam Baldwin doesn't remember the rules about the game whenever he's asked.

Right now I'm working on making my own deck, trying to make something that looks like Blue Sun might have made it -- the "hand drawn" deck linked from the Firefly WikiCity was... well, let's just say it didn't really make me want to run them through my printer.

I found a site that sells blank cards (front and back) and a thirteen dollar program so your computer will print them right. They won't be the same as the cards from the show, but those were metal and I'm pretty sure the prop guys made them specifically for the show.

Right now I've got the Orange suit (minus the face cards, as I've got to hand draw those) as well as the Orange Tall card made, and I'm getting close to finishing the Plum suit. I'll toss them in a zip file and put them on fileshare once I get it all done, then post the url to it up here.
